1449 Elyse, Suzy, Bruce,

I agree that Christopher Moore is a great and funny writer in the Douglas Adams tradition. I do think though, that Douglas Adams is amazing - whenever I am in a predicament I often think of the words on the "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe" :"Don't Panic" - :)Doug

1449 Mary,

I had no idea that he is battling alzheimers - that is sad - do you know how old he is?

I have only recently started the discworld series - so I appreciate your recommending "The Color of Magic", which I have not read. Thank you, Doug

I agree - "Stupid and Contagious" was a delightful novel. A great Summer read. I love a great laugh and this novel was full of them. :)Doug

1449 Elyse,

Thank you for recommendations, I appreciate it. I really liked "Thud" which was of course about the police. The police were quite funny. I liked Death in Thud. Are there any novels where Death takes the lead - Doug

1449 Elyse,

It is good to hear that - everyone is fine on my end - they are looking forward to Summer and the freedom from school.

I have really enjoyed the two books I have read (or listened to) by Pratchett. I am starting to get hooked. Do you have a favorite? He has written so much, I am not sure which one to start next. :)Doug

1449 I thought it might be good to start a new topic on the novels of Terry Pratchett. His works are of an alternative World, but with enough connection to the "real world" to allow us to feel a part of his stories.

1449 Folks,

Anyone want to be the moderator of this group? Both Jenny and Anders have been lost to Goodreads...it truly is our loss that they chose to leave.

I will put myself as the interim moderator - anyone is welcome to join me or take over as moderator, just let me know. :)Doug

1449 Folks,

It would be enjoyable to discuss the "Thursday Next" series. I actually started a group to for Jasper Fforde's novels - so far I haven't had any takers, of course it would be smart to actually invite people to join...on the other hand a group of one does sound like the beginnings of a novel with a certain sense of quirkiness (sp.?) about it. :)Doug
