Hi! I'm still active. I'm just plugging my way through the list, doing my own thing.

I just finished the book. I've been doing a deep dive into Books Set In India as I recently visited India for the first time. I absolutely loved the book - it gave a real sense of place - and the characters. I enjoyed it much more than A Room with a View

I'm curious to see where in the show it was referenced too!

Hi! Is someone able to update the Currently Reading books on the group page? Still showing Girl Interrupted from April. I'm finding in hard to keep track of what was voted for. Thanks!

I have already read this one. I listened to the audiobook narrated by Selma Blair Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl: The Definitive Edition and it was absolutely wonderful. It really suited the diary format. Highly recommended.

I've seen the movie, it's fabulous. Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton are perfect as a bickering middle-aged couple who drink too much... I mean, is it even acting at that point?? ;)
Have ordered the book from the library and can't wait to read it.

FINALLY getting around to reading this one, has been on my TBR for YEARS. I had previously started it, but it was overdue at library and had to return it.

I'm about 7/8ths through and loving it - although I really don't want to read another 'biography' of the killers again (several pop up throughout the book).

My husband and I recently listened to the audiobook of Breakfast at Tiffany's and Three Stories narrated by Michael C Hall (Dexter) and absolutely loved it. Obviously a much lighter topic than this book!

I'm wondering why is this the May book, if it was done in May last year? Shouldn't it be a re-read? It's on my TBR, so I'm not complaining, I just can't get my head around it.

I've read this month's group reads, so I'm going back to catch up on ones that I've missed. Have just started Madame Bovary - has been on my TBR list for a loooong time. So excited! I'm listening to the audio version.

Kim, I can’t believe this is your first Stephen King?! I hope you enjoy it! If you can stand horror, then King is the master. (Misery is the BEST!)

Stephanie, yes, everything is going into lockdown at the moment, including libraries, which will prob affect our access to books for group reads. Maybe we can still pick one but suggest if you can’t get your hands on a copy then just go back and catch up on any books the group has already read?

Just picked up my copy from the library and really looking forward to it. I normally can’t put King books down, which will be a refreshing change from Time Traveler’s Wife (snooze fest).

Ugh, I did not enjoy this book! Such a slog. I found it really boring (despite being about time travel!) and I didn’t like any of the characters. It may have been better as a novella - there was a huge chunk in the middle, the endless back and forthing, that seems unnecessary. Not for me :)

I quickly read The Outsider before the TV show commenced. I loved the book, couldn't put it down! The show is also enjoyable, although I think I'm getting more out of it/more invested than my husband, who didn't read the book. Book definitely better!

I've finally finished "Uncle Tom's Cabin", which I loved, but it was a real slog - which brings me to 90.

Firstly, thinking of Stephanie, her mum and family at this time. Hoping that you are well. X

Secondly, I loved A Year of Magical Thinking. My father-in-law died suddenly (massive heart attack) two years ago, in very similar circumstances. This book has given me more understanding and compassion for what his wife went through and no doubt, is still going through. I'm toying with the idea of recommending it to her - the beginning is so raw but the reflections on the physical nature of grief I found really enlightening.

Mindy, I think you're right! I can't find it on the Black and White list either. It is however on the Going Down Swinging rory challenge - there are too many of these lists!
It's definitely worth a read though :)

Oh goodie! I looooove this book and have read it several times. I may even re-read it with the group. Somehow SE Hinton's other book That Was Then, This Is Now completely passed me by, so I will also read that one.

Thanks Stephanie! I'll keep that list in mind. I agree, some of the books on the Black and White list don't seem to belong... for example, I doubt that Rory read "Brigadoon", a play, rather she probably just watched the movie. Also, I can't find a copy of the play anywhere so I don't want to read it! ;)

I have already read this book and it's one of my favourites! I'd really like to read more Ray Bradbury.

Tim Robbins does an amazing job of narrating the audio book if anyone is interested?

I tried to watch the recent tv series, but bailed when there was no Mrs Montag! She was my favourite character!

I want a Mrs Montag doorbell...
