Peter watts wrote a great story about The Thing (John carpenter horror flick) from the perspective of The Thing. it's called "The things". you can find it on his website http://www.rifters.com/real/shorts.htm

My favorite has definitely been Small Gods. It had just the right tone and kind of humor to be right up my alley, and pinpointed a lot of my own thoughts on religion.
