Yeah, caste 2 singers are what we would consider chart toppers/very famous (think Taylor Swift or One Direction to name a few) and caste 5 are more background music/not supposed to be in the spotlight

In the US we start high school around age 13/14

Illea is a country formed under Gregory Illea after a war with Asia. It is believed to be in the continent of North America, including Central America, and split into 35 provinces.

Before Gregory Illea, the United States of America was still intact and under the leadership of President Wallace. But the US's debt had grown too large and China invaded. They soon took over all power while keeping the veil that nothing changed intact.

Soon after, during World War IV, the Russians attempted to invade the now-Chinese territory. This caused China to attack Russia and Gregory Illea took over power, forming the new country Illea.

Being a new country, Gregory married off his only daughter, Katherine, to the prince of Swendenway, Emil de Monpezat, making the Illea family royal and Gregory a king.

Spencer, Gregory's eldest son, 'died' a few years after his sister's marriage. Gregory's other son, Damon was then made the next heir of Illea and was the first prince (princesses are married off to foreign countries) to have a Selection. He married Grace Lowell and they had a son named Justin.

For his Selection, Justin chose Abby Tamblin. But Abby was in love with Justin's cousing Porter Schreave, and the two killed Justin and married each other. They had a son named Clarkson (the king in The Selection series).

Clarkson would go through his own Selection and choose Amberly Station (the queen in The Selection series) and together they would have their only son, Maxon Schreave (the prince in The Selection series).

Maxon's Selection is the main focus of The Selection series as 35 girls compete for his heart. America Singer, a five, wins and they marry. Together they have two children, twins, a boy and a girl, named Ahren and Eadlyn.

Eadlyn is seven minutes older than her brother making her the heir of the Illean throne. Her Selection will be explored in the new novel, The Heir, by Kiera Cass coming out Spring 2015.
