153782 Definitely time of release. Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstein at 21, nearly 200 years ago.

153782 My favourite is "the Narrow Road to the Deep North" by Richard Flanagan -the Man Booker Prize winner. It particularly resounds as an Australian but at the same time it is a thoughtful book for all. The flawed characters; love and its many faces; the evil and degradation which war means and yet the decency and courage which it also entails. (But this absolutely is NOT a "war book"). I particularly found myself reflecting on memories and their role in the lives of individuals, families and even nations.

153782 I am giving you a bad review for a book I have just finished! "Where'd you go Bernadette?'. What began as an entertaining read lost its way by the last section. The writer made some incomprehensible choices.

153782 Jaycee Dugard "A Stolen Life" has been recommended to me as an interesting choice to read for a memoir.

153782 I agree with Nicole - just go with those books everyone was "supposed" to read. Thanks Caitlin for setting this up.

153782 Big Little Lies is a can't-put-it-down read. There is also Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. -classified non-fiction about a famous murder mystery in a Savannah. And Hotel on the Corner of a Bitter and Sweet is set in Seattle. They are both terrific books. And they could fulfil antonym and home town location for some readers.

153782 A trilogy which can also tick Pulitzer Prize is Gilead, Home and Lila by Marilyn Robinson. A really engaging group of characters. She is a great writer. Won the Pulitzer with Housekeeping also.
