I agree. It's better to hire actors/actresses who will do an amazing job portraying the characters and do the characters justice rather than just looks like the characters.

157649 I think what makes a good movie is a combination of a great cast of actors and actresses who can actually act and an amazing crew of directors, producers, etc. It's all about decision making. Some producers and directors simply screw up the entire movie adaptation. Some actors and actresses, though good-looking, simply cannot act or just don't play the role like how they should. So I don't think it's just about the cast and how they play the roles, it's also about the people behind the scenes who are making the big decisions on how to turn the book into something visually appealing.

That was my original comment, but I was getting a lot of crap for it so I deleted it. Maybe my mind is failing me or I'm just simply not remembering, but I don't believe Susan gave very in-detail descriptions of Penryn other than dark hair and eyes and that she's short in stature. I believe she could be any race. But maybe I just need to go back and re-read?

Yes she really is a bad actress! I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks so!
157649 I personally think the worst people to play anyone in the Angelfall series is a.) anyone who's been in a massive YA movie to book adaptation franchise before. I'm sorry, but I'm tired of Shailene Woodley, Ansel Elgort, the cast of Twilight, etc. Some of them are amazing actors/actresses, but come on, there's other talent out there. b.) Huge actors/actresses. Again, they seem to want to pick people like Jennifer Lawrence for everything.

I'm honestly kind of hoping that they don't turn this book into a movie because it'll just screw it up. I loved The Fault In Our Stars before the movie came out. The movie was okay, but it wasn't like how I envisioned all of it in my head, and then everyone began reading it and I haven't picked it up since. Also, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. Why the hell they chose Lily Collins to play the role of Clary is beyond my intellectual ability.

IF anything happens to this book where it makes it onto the screen, let it be a TV show like The Vampire Diaries and Pretty Little Liars. I'd much rather them be able to find a phenomenal cast and take their time with getting things right rather than attempt to fit everything into a one and a half hour movie.

As for Harry Potter, I consider it as the only book to movie franchise that is pretty much spot on.
157649 Although I'd love to see this on the big screen, I can't think of any actors/actresses that would do these roles justice. It might just be better leaving them as a book series as I have just seen too many of my favorite books be ruined by horrid movie adaptations.

157649 I just love how Susan Ee writes the relationship between Raffe and Penryn. Like I said in my review for Angelfall, you can definitely have romance without making it cliche. That certain electricity that Penryn and Raffe share is something that you can feel, even though it's not written straight out. It's just the little things that each of them do, how they react to each other, Penryn's thoughts when she sees him again for the first time.I think they both know that they have feelings for each other, but they are also hyper-aware of the fact that he's an angel, and she's a Daughter of Man, and there's no way, at least not right now, that they could have a long term relationship with each other. I don't have the book in front of me right now, but my heart broke a bit in World After when Penryn and Raffe were flying, and he was holding her in his arms and she clutched him tighter. I remember her saying something then and it basically explains their relationship. They realize that this isn't Twilight. She's not focused on becoming an angel, and he doesn't have any hopes of becoming human. They both have to just come to terms that no matter what they feel, it'll never be, despite what many of us would want to happen.

However, I am still rooting for them and I would love if in the end, they find some kind of way to stay together! Even if all they do is go around the world with Pooky Bear while kicking some serious butt.

157649 I don't think Penyrn's mom gets enough recognition. Even though she's absolutely mad, there's something about her character that's just so ridiculously funny. But at the same time, she's extremely smart. For example, the yellow star patches on all of their clothes that contain the tracking devices. Who would've known? If it weren't for that, Penyrn might not have ever found Paige.
