Lyssa found it admirable how hard Charlie worked. She wished she could work half as hard he did, but she could understand the reasoning behind why he had to put in more effort. What she didn't understand was his lack of breaks, because everyone needs a break. And she supposed that right about now would be a good one for him.

"It was okay; kind of boring," she answered, waving a hand dismissively before sticking out both hands, "You need to slow it down for a second. Gimme the books and let's get a snack." She smiled brightly, hoping that the thought of food would be compelling enough. "Maybe pop in a movie or check if Netflix updated anything?"

"Oh!"

To say she nearly jumped right out of her skin at Charlie's sudden appearance would have been an understatement. Lyssa wasn't very good with surprises, which was why she tended to stray away from the latest horror flicks with a passion. But, now that Charlie was here, she might have had something to do. Her look of surprise shifted into that of pleasantry.

"S'okay," she dismissed, "How was your day?"

Lyssa was bored.

Incredibly so, and not the kind of bored that was easily remedied. The solution she sought was to wander the halls of her home, or maybe head for the kitchen. She was still in the process of deciding when she left her room. Pulling her hair up into a ponytail, she groaned softly. God, she needed something to do.

‟ Honestly, a lot of what people say about Lyssa is undeniably false. She has never in her life experienced anything remotely close to a romantic attachment, let alone something sexual. Her parents, bless their souls, aren't religiously inclined, but very protective of their daughter. Why, they didn't even want to harm her mind with the baffling talk of "the birds and the bees." Instead, when she woke them up screaming that she was bleeding, they let her know what it was while eliminating any sort of phallic content in the talk, i.e. anything involving s-e-x. She has been to biology, thank you, but money has a way of obscuring things. Excuses to get her out of class, reasons she needs to be taken to an office for something━the possibilities were endless freshman year.

At any rate, she's a lot smarter than she looks, too. She's not the very stereotypical dumb blonde, but she's not a genius either. She's fine with being within the average--well, average for the area--range. While she does sometimes wish she could be as smart as Charlie, the boy her family is hosting while he's here on his scholarship, she's content. Being content with the way her life is--that's normal for her. She's not one of the girls that has a tendency to freak out if her parent doesn't allow her to get a Versace purse. Though, she does have a habit of getting a smidgen upset if Mother tampers with her allowance by a couple hundred dollars.

Being rich is fun, but Lyssa has no idea what to do with her life after school. Obviously, college, but what's next? She knows she won't be able to live with her parents and siblings and Charlie as one big happy bunch for much longer, and she doesn't have any kind feelings to the idea of that. ”
