I have decided to clarify for everyone an issue that has come up in our household. My pledge to read all the books on our bookshelves shall not include the following:

1) Textbooks. The reasons behind this should go without saying.

2) Mike's books, or should I say the books that Mike brought into the household. Over Mike's arduous objections, I've decided not to include these books in my quest mostly because I don't want to have to read some of his sci-fi garbage (love you sweetie!).

Note that I am not excluding any of my books on literary theory or _Finnegan's Wake_, so I think this addendum is totally fair and acceptable.

Yes, I will clear the cobwebs from both my bookshelves and my mind. If this helps me achieve inner peace, all the better. Then other people in the group can do the same and achieve their own inner peace, thereby starting a ripple effect of inner peace felt all throughout the world!

A curse upon my verbosity AND upon goodreads' maximum length description! I was tempted to toy with you, Rebecca, or promise weight loss, a higher percentage chance of winning the lottery, and an increased sex drive, but I decided to be boring and come clean.

My gains will be twofold: I will save money (a must in today’s ailing economy) AND I will clear out some rubbish (I have a sense that my copy of the portable Henry James is headed out the door).
