I finished the book last night! My rating is somewhere between 2 and 3 stars, probably 2.5/2.75. I'll post my updates for Part III, Part IV, and Part V later on. I'm currently sick + have a hard exam tomorrow + got some family issues.

Part II
(view spoiler)[I have a feeling I won't like this book very much. The plot of the book is way different than I had expected. When going into the book, I didn't really know anything, but when they made the agreement of the challenge, I expected a duel that happens in the circus. Instead it goes on for years and years.

The switching POVs are so confusing. It'll be a third-person POV of Celia, and then all of a sudden it's Isobel's with no break in between. Also, the random second-person POVs? What's the point? And why are there so many POVs?? I agree with you on the Herr Thiessen and Bailey thing. Poppet and Widget are intriguing, but what's their role in the story?

I also don't really like Marco and Celia very much. They're decent, but they've barely been developed. I don't like the fact that they both knew who their opponents were are different times. The whole 'duel challenge' thing lacks the tension and high-stakes I expected. And the whatever romance dynamic going on between them? I don't like it. I hope that Marco atleast breaks up with Isobel before he makes a(nother) move on Celia.

Tara's death was so... weird? Like what was the point of it? I'm hoping things get explained more, like how Celia's mom was talked about a bit, though we really only found out what happened to her.

I do like the writing of the book, and all the descriptions of food does make me hungry, but there's not very much else to like. Sure, there's a nice atmosphere around it, and while it's enjoyable and easy for me to read, it's also quite frustrating.

I didn't really pay attention to the years at first so I was very confused when Bailey was talking to adult Poppet and Widget's and then in the next chapter the twins become little kids again.

I still have so many questions, though. I'm really hoping they get answered, but I don't think they will. I'm a bit through Part III, the final part right now. There's a party going on or whatever? I'm definitely finishing the book today, though. (hide spoiler)]

Part I
(view spoiler)[I quite like this book so far, though it was slightly confusing in the start. I'd first thought that Celia was Isobel, but now I'm not so sure.

I believe the story actually starts now in Part II and Part III, so I'm excited to read those parts. I also like the writing style, it's fun to read. And yeah, Celia and Marco both have pretty horrible parents/parental figures. I'm curious to see the new circus that Chandresh is making, and how it's going to tie into the plot. I don't really know what the purpose of Bailey is, but I guess I'll find out.

I have a few questions at the moment, like what is up with Hector and his weird invisible form? And Celia's mother, what happened to her. Presuming she's dead, how did Celia know to come to Hector? What's Marco's past? And Mr. A.H. (the grey suit man), what's his deal?

I feel like Marco and Celia are going to end up together, so I'm very curious to see what's going to happen to Isobel. So far, the book is good, though the plot and characters are a bit weird. Also the way the POVs switch around is very confusing. Plus the magic system. I kind of forgot it existed because it was barely even developed. (hide spoiler)]

I might read a few more chapters today, but I think I'll most likely finish this tomorrow. Also, it seems like you have five parts, but my book has only three? My Part III also has only two chapters as well (but they are long).

I'm going to start this now, I was looking at the chapters and realised they weren't numbered. I think I'll try to finish this as quick as possible, but i do have exams.
