Usually I like reading about the characters just going about their lives and interacting with others, but when there's clearly something that should be happening and it's just not, it's annoying and feels like the author is just dragging the book out. Possibly to increase the page count, as you said.

Chapter 28 - Epilogue
(view spoiler)[ I liked the epilogue, even though it was very short.
I wasn’t expecting Emi and I didn’t really care for the way things turned out with Cali. Also, I’m disappointed that we didn’t see what happened with Samuel, Dean’s father and mother.

Chapters 19 - 27
(view spoiler)[ The scene with Howard and the chalkboards would have been so much better if it happened with Rennick and Amelia because I’m not as interested in Dean and Fawn.
I feel like Tickles could be Fawn’s familiar, although he hasn’t spoken to her so maybe not, which means that Fawn’s magic might have been weakened by someone/something.
I’m not sure if Samuel’s wife knows about his plans; she seemed nice enough. Also, I didn’t really think about it since it’s been made obvious to the reader who hired Warren, but Dean isn’t doing anything to find out.

Chapters 9 - 18
(view spoiler)[ I thought it might have been Cali, maybe with the help of Baddock, or Dean’s father who sent Warren. Is Samuel Cali’s father?
The beginning made me hopeful but I think this book is going to be closer to Obsessively Yours than Viciously Yours in terms of my enjoyment.

I also wondered if it made sense for Kenzie to stay somewhere obvious since she’s an obvious bait to get to Maven.

Chapters 1 - 8
(view spoiler)[ I was hoping to see Amelia and Rennick in Fawn’s POV but they haven’t even been mentioned once. The situation with Warren was unexpected and I’m wondering if that’s going to somehow be a problem later.
I don’t like Dean’s betrothal, especially given how there were big problems with other women in the previous books. Also, I think Dean’s father either knew that Fawn was alive or didn’t bother looking for her when he found out that she was half human, ie weak.
I’m really curious about Lilith and why she’s in the Garden Kingdom - do the other kingdoms not know about her existence?
