Our monthly theme is dogs! Since National Dog Day falls in August we thought this would be a great time to read about our four-legged fur babies. Read anything you want that is somehow related to dogs, then join us to share your reading experience at the Library Thursday, August 23 at 5:00. We'll add some recommendations to the Bookshelf. Let us know what you're reading this month in the comments!

**Title Change**
The January 2017 Family Book Club book will be
The Key to Extraordinary by
Natalie Lloyd instead of
The Seventh Most Important Thing. Copies will be available at the library; we highly recommend the audiobook version!
Mandy wrote: "What is it you're asking about?" I was asking about
The Seventh Most Important Thing as our next read. I was mostly wondering if deviating from classic children's books would be okay. I likely jumped the gun a little by posting already. lol :)

Is this something you'd normally pick up to read? Why or why not? Would you read anything else by this author in the future?

Have you ever read Peter Pan before? Have you seen any of the movie or play adaptations? How does the book compare to those? Share your thoughts here or join us Thursday, November 17 at 6:00pm in the Children's Room to talk about it in person! :)
Mandy wrote: "Will there be a family book club in October?"I think you know this now, Mandy, but yes! We're going to try Alice in Wonderland again. :)

This fall we will be choosing a theme for each month's programming and book clubs (Family and Teen). September's theme is Alice's Adventures in Wonderland! Check the Library's website for Alice-inspired crafts, activities, and a Mad Tea Party!

Join us for a Family Book Club this summer! We'll meet to talk about the book Tuesday, August 2nd at 11 a.m. Intended for ages 5-10 and their parents. Newcomers are welcome!

If you can't make the physical meeting (or even if you can), feel free to share your thoughts on the book here!
Mandy wrote: "I would love a family book club! I think that from my tween's perspective she would like to keep them separate."I can totally understand that. :) The plan (for now) is to have just the Family Book Club in April, then split the Tween Book Club out again for Summer Reading. After Summer Reading we'll likely keep both going.
Would it be advantageous to have them both the same day at different times or at the same time on different days?

We are considering either adding a Family Book Club to our book club lineup or merging it with our Tween Book Club. Would anyone be interested in attending a book club intended for families who have read the book together? Should we keep the two (Family and Tween) separate or join together?
Thank you for your input!
