50x66 ‘The Kew Gardens Children’s Cookbook’ by Joe Archer and Caroline Craig

BOOK NOT YET RELEASED SO HAVING TO PLACE FULL REVIEW HERE:

A beautifully presented book which successfully takes the young reader from planting through to cooking and eating, just as it promises to.
As a KS1 teacher, I look forward to using this book as a resource both in class and in my after school gardening club. The pages feature colourful photographs and pretty illustrations, with the text being detailed enough to be useful and informative without losing the reader's attention.
It lends itself perfectly to the KS1 science curriculum, with explanations not only of what plants need, but also why they need particular things to help them grow.
The gardening tasks and recipes alike are suitably achievable for children, whilst still featuring extra elements of challenge for those wishing to be pushed.
As an amateur gardener teaching youngsters, I found the ongoing yearly calendar particularly useful in ensuring that no planting or harvest time could possibly be missed.
This book should become a staple in every KS1 classroom - if not to be used as a formal resource, then simply to inspire the young and help educate them in how and where their food really comes from.
