168374 So I hadn't looked at the new lists page in awhile - mostly because it doesn't seem to show up on the main listopia anymore.

And I was struck with how little people look for existing duplicate lists. Or how much people want their own new version of existing lists.

So if you are out there creating lists, what are you thinking?

168374 Again I ask - is anyone out there? I know plenty of lists are still being created on goodreads. And voted on and maintained. And read. So presumably there are other list creators wanting to chat and share and complain and support each other.

168374 Please vote on this list so I can cover more countries Most Rated Book by Country.

Even better if you have suggestions for books that were missed.

168374 This has been a really useful thread for me and Fairytalesbliss - but if there is anyone else out there, having more people helping maintain these lists by also voting would be really useful. And pointing out other lists that need help - say award winner and nominee lists would also be a great use of this thread.

Is there anyone else out there?

168374 Please vote on the following lists so the can continue to be maintained:
Books with ratings from 150 thousand to 200 thousand
Books with ratings from 100 thousand to 150 thousand

168374 Please vote on the following lists so that they can continue to be maintained:

All Non Fiction on Goodreads with 25,000 to 49,999 ratings

All Non Fiction on Goodreads with 50,000 to 99,999ratings

168374 Anyone out there reading this - feel free to also vote on these lists as well as post about other lists with the same challenge. Again this is not really promoting a list - though that would fit the concept of this group.

168374 Some suggestions about creating maintainable lists:

1 put in a limitation in the list to try to get the targeted number of the books to be approximately within the number of maintainers. This generally means <100 books. This can be done by limiting books to a publishing date range, or a number of ratings range (usually a minimum number), or a number of shelvings in a topic or limiting books in a series to only the first book. These limits also help for when (not if) the list gets vandalized. Getting a librarian to remove a book from a list without super-clear criteria is much harder - generally I won't do it - and I became a librarian solely to remove books from lists.

2 drive usage of the lists - use the tags. use the description. look for related lists - like say popular romance - and announce your lists in the comments. add links to related lists in the description. The more active good users of a list, the easier it is to maintain. The million ratings list has only two active maintainers - but it has a lot of voters - though mostly they haven't found the second page.

3 become a librarian - vandalism both intentional and unintentional of goodreads lists are inevitable. And becoming a librarian and using that power to maintain your own lists is much easier than begging other librarians to do it for you.

4 recognize that a single voter on a book on a list is a risk - their goodreads profile gets closed and that vote goes away. And there is no hint as to which books were lost.

Done. And thanks for your help on maintaining the 80k to 90k list. Again - your help would be helpful on any of the #rating lists.

168374 Could y'all please vote on Books with ratings from 80 thousand to 90 thousand?

Most help would be to vote for 100 books already on this list that can visibly be seen to have between 80,000 to 89,999 ratings especially for books with only 1 voter.

Thanks so much.

Done. This is a recurring problem for list maintainers. I could use this same ask on as many of the most-ratings lists as possible - https://www.goodreads.com/list/tag/mo...

168374 Just checking to see if anyone is out there. I spend a lot of my time on listopia and I know a lot of other people do too. And there are plenty of lists that could use attention. And there are always new lists worth noticing.

168374 A call out for assistance maintaining comprehensive lists in general and my comprehensive lists in specific. Having only 100 votes means either splitting lists or getting help by other librarians.

I could especially use help with https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/79318.Popular_Fantasy_on_Goodreads_with_between_100_and_999_ratings
and

168374 I found an author and book today on one of my lists inappropriately. It was one of those 68 ratings with 37 reviews and 37 votes on each list that it was on with suspiciously similar profiles on most of the 37.

I removed it from my list. I removed it from another list that I helped maintain. I added it and two others of the author's books to an appropriate list Unknown books on more than 60 Goodreads Lists. I reported the author to goodreads.

Any other thoughts on what to do? In the past when I've reported these kind of things, I've had pretty much nothing happen. Most people don't create listopia lists with an eye to avoiding inappropriate postings.
