This is a very interesting read, but not what I expected. It's more about the personal journey of one young man stationed on Eniwetok during a year of the bomb tests there, and less about the project itself. I was surprised by the really juvenile, nihilistic behavior of the enlisted men described, as well as really off-put by some of the creepy officers. This is definitely not your typical military history, but interesting in a kind of "train wreck I can't look away from" way. I'm about halfway through.
