169650 Hi again, everyone! This month's challenge is to read a book that's the colour of the sky wherever you are right now! For me that's a dark grey-y blue, as it's a pretty cloudy evening, but for you guys it might be bright blue, or grey or white, or black/navy if you're seeing this at night... or maybe even sunset/sunrise colours!

P.S. I encourage you all to browse your home-libraries (so to speak) if it's not safe to go out in your area, or of your local libraries are closed. And many libraries also have ebook collections, too!

& as always:
1) Please feel free to use this thread for discussion, recommendations, and reviews.
2) Please also remember to add your book to the group bookshelf! You can do this on the group's main page by scrolling down to where it says "Bookshelf" at the bottom, and clicking on "Add Books".

169650 Finished! I picked Days of Blood & Starlight this month, as I've been putting off continuing this series for an age... and I loved it! My first 5-star read of the year! 😁 I've got a full review posted on my blog.

169650 Apart from the two I've already mentioned (and all their sequels), some other ideas might be:
A Song of Wraiths and Ruin (A Song of Wraiths and Ruin, #1) by Roseanne A. Brown The World of Ice and Fire The Untold History of Westeros and the Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin Queen of Air and Darkness (The Dark Artifices, #3) by Cassandra Clare Children of Blood and Bone (Legacy of Orïsha, #1) by Tomi Adeyemi

169650 Welcome back once again! 😊 This month's challenge is one I've been wanting to set for a while: to find a book with "_____ of _____ and _____" in its title (e.g. Daughter of Smoke & Bone or A Court of Thorns and Roses). This has been a pretty popular naming convention in the last couple of years (at least for YA), so hopefully you'll all be able to find something!

169650 Happy New Year, everyone! 🥂 This month I've just got a prompt for you: The word "new"! Feel free to pick a new release, or a recent purchase, or something with "new" in the title - or to interpret the prompt however you like!

P.S. I encourage you all to browse your home-libraries (so to speak) if it's not safe to go out in your area, or of your local libraries are closed. And many libraries also have ebook collections, too!

& as always:

169650 For this I decided to make a start on The Bane Chronicles by Cassandra Clare (& others), with What Really Happened in Peru... which was kind of a meh read, to be honest, but I do want to keep going with the series so that I can move on to some of the more interesting Shadowhunter books... You can find my review on my blog.

169650 A few recommendations for anyone who likes sci-fi:

Perfect State by Brandon Sanderson This Is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar To Be Taught, If Fortunate by Becky Chambers

And, in general, I also recommend any of Ursula K. Le Guin's short stories. My favourites are the titular story from A Fisherman of the Inland Sea and On the High Marsh from Tales from Earthsea.

169650 Hello again! Since December can be a pretty stressful month for a lot of people, our final challenge of 2020 will be a reasonably easy one (I hope!): To read a short story or a novella! If anyone can recommend any good ones, please leave a comment down below!

P.S. I encourage you all to browse your home-libraries (so to speak) if it's not safe to go out in your area, or of your local libraries are closed. And many libraries also have ebook collections, too!

169650 Finished this a while ago, but I finally managed to get my review posted for The Bronze Key by Holly Black & Cassandra Clare! Which I enjoyed mostly, though my feelings on this series in general are kind of mixed... You can find the review on my blog.

169650 Hi again, everyone! This month's challenge is fairly self-explanatory: Read the sequel to a book you read a long time ago. 😊 & I'll leave the exact definition of "a long time ago" to your discretion. Good luck!

P.S. I encourage you all to browse your home-libraries (so to speak) if it's not safe to go out in your area, or of your local libraries are closed. And many libraries also have ebook collections, too!

169650 Finished! This month I decided to read White is for Witching by Helen Oyeyemi, which was beautifully written, but sadly not as spooky as I was hoping... 😓 You can find my full review on my blog.

169650 Happy October, all! 🎃 This month I challenge you all to read a book that scares you! Whether that's because it's a scary story, or intimidatingly long, or a book that you're nervous you won't like... it all counts!

P.S. I encourage you all to browse your home-libraries (so to speak) if it's not safe to go out in your area, or of your local libraries are closed. And many libraries also have ebook collections, too!

169650 This month I decided to read Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro, which I borrowed from my dad about three years ago & figured it was about time I finally returned... You can find my full review on my blog, but in short: I liked it, though I think it would've had more of an emotional impact on me if I hadn't already known what it was about...

169650 Hello again, everyone! While coronavirus is still ongoing, I'm going to try to stick to challenges that don't require much combing-of-the-shelves, so this month your task is to read a book by an author you haven't read from before, which is fairly self-explanatory! 😅 Good luck & happy hunting!

P.S. I encourage you all to browse your home-libraries (so to speak) if it's not safe to go out in your area, or of your local libraries are closed. And many libraries also have ebook collections, too!

169650 I finished Solitaire! & it was a really great read; even though I've historically really enjoyed Alice Oseman's books, I liked this one way more than I was expecting to! 😊 I've got my full review posted here.
Jul 31, 2020 02:53PM

169650 My suggestions:
Eragon (The Inheritance Cycle, #1) by Christopher Paolini Frankenstein The 1818 Text by Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley Popular Vintage Wisdom for a Modern Geek by Maya Van Wagenen

And I personally will be aiming to get hold of a copy of Solitaire by Alice Oseman, which was released when she was 20 (I think), but which she obviously wrote before then. 😅

169650 Hi everyone, sorry for the long absence! I hope you're all doing as well as can be. 🤞 Now that the libraries near me are beginning to open their doors again, I thought it'd be the perfect time to get scavenging again, so I'm finally back with a new challenge: to read a book that was written by a teenager. Wikipedia has a list here that includes some, and please feel free to leave suggestions/recommendations in this thread!

Of course, I encourage you to browse your home-libraries (so to speak) if it's not safe to go out in your area, or of your local libraries are closed. And many libraries also have ebook collections, too!

Happy hunting!

169650 Hello again, everyone! Last month's challenge turned out to be a little too challenging (for me at least), so I decided to pick something a little simpler for February... which is to read a book with an X in the title! Lone Xs and Xs that are part of words are both encouraged! 😁

Happy hunting!

169650 Happy New Year! For our first challenge of 2020, I task you with finding a book with a page count that's a multiple of 20! So, time to break out the maths! (& luckily the 20 times table isn't a difficult one. 😅)

Happy hunting!

2) Please also remember to add your book to the group bookshelf! You can do this on the group's main page by scrolling down to where it says "Bookshelf" at the bottom, and clicking on "Add Books".
Nov 30, 2019 04:02PM

169650 Welcome back for the final challenge of 2019! The days are getting super-short here, so this month's challenge will be to read a book with "dark" in the title - though it needn't be the whole word, so feel free to go for things like "darkness"/"darkly"/etc., too.

Happy hunting!

1) Please feel free to use this thread for discussion, recommendations, and reviews.
2) Please also remember to add your book to the group bookshelf! You can do this on the group's main page by scrolling down to where it says "Bookshelf" at the bottom, and clicking on "Add Books".
