170701 A rather interesting and humorous line I found in Susan Casey's "The Wave" is on page 176. "Far from striving for a balance lifestyle in pursuit of his sport, Noll espoused whatever extremes it took to get a ride: 'I would have gotten myself shot out of an elephant's ass if it would get me on a bigger wave."

170701 I am nearing the end of The Wave by Susan Casey. So far, it has been a very interesting book consisting of exhilarating surfing stories, rogue waves destroying huge ocean liners and giant titan-like waves. As the book states in the beginning: "In pursuit of the rogues, freaks, and giant of the ocean", it most certainly does in fact show us many examples of these such freaks of nature. It also touches on the ideology of waves and the science behind that earths power. This book is a great read because it is open to the interests of many including those interested in the ocean, freaks of nature, science, surfing, etc. Overall, I give it a 4 out of 5 because it can constantly keep the reader hooked with new interesting stories and information.

170701 I am in the middle of The Cruelest Miles by Gay Salisbury and Laney Salisbury. So far, the book is ok. It is about a diptheria outbreak in Nome, Alaska. Many children are dyeing and the prior request for anti-toxin was ignored. The fate of the children of Nome now rests in a large group of Dog mushers and dog teams racing across Alaska with a large, fresh batch of serum. The teams battle through extreme temperatures and horrible storms. The topic is very interesting but the book is rather repetitive and slow paced.

170701 I have now started The Blind Side. The movie was a great and heartwarming story and so far the book is good as well. The book focuses a lot more on the fundamentals and strategy of football.

170701 I am nearing the end of "Marley and Me" by John Grogan. In my opinion this book deserves 4.5 stars because it takes a normal mans life and makes it into an amazing adventure with something new lurking around every corner. I highly recommend it for animals lovers and anyone looking for a good read. The extremely hyper and adventurous Marley grows larger with age but still remains a puppy at heart. "Life and love with the worlds worst dog", this book will have you feeling emotional and you may even catch yourself smiling here and there while reading it.

170701 I just finished the book "Trout" by James Prosek. I would recommend it to anyone who has an interest in learning more about trout because it is very informative with amazing drawings and painting of the many different kinds of trout.

170701 I am reading "White Fang" by JAck London. So far it is interesting but confusing and unorganized. Almost all of the men's sled dogs have been killed by a She-wolf that leads them into the forest were they get mauled by a pack of wolves.
