Aaron,Before you read Passage to Dawn, you have read Homeland/Exile/Sojourn, Crystal Shard/Streams of Silver/Halfling's Gem and Legacy/Starless Night/Siege of Darkness, yes?
Totally up to you. Book 10: "Passage to Dawn" brings in the characters you'd meet there. I didn't read 'Cleric Quintet' till much later. It stands well on its own.
Lizzard wrote: "I have just started with the series, first The Dark Elf Trilogy, now I'm on book 6 (third book of second trilogy) in Icewind Dale. I have seen online that I'm supposed to read the Cleric's Quinte..."
In my opinion you can skip it. They introduce you to the characters of Cadderly and Danica, and the Bouldershoulder brothers Ivan and Pikel. Those characters show up in later Drizzt books and they don't do much to introduce them, assuming that readers already read the Cleric Quintet. Though they are good books and you will love the characters when they show up later.
You can go ahead and move on to The Legacy after you finish The Halfling's Gem.
Shannon, It really depends on your time and preferences. Obviously, since they are excellent, those 6 books would be a wonderful re-read before moving on to The Legacy. However, there are plenty of great summaries written by fans that you could read to refresh your memory. Totally up to you.
Michelle, Chronologically, "The Highwayman" is the beginning of the Corona series, even thought the Demon Wars stuff was released first. Then:
2) The Ancient
3) The Dame
4) The Bear
5) The Demon Awakens
6) The Demon Spirit
7) The Demon Apostle
8) Mortalis
9) Ascendance
10) Transcendence
11) Immortalis
12) The Education of Brother Thaddius
Hope this helps!
With the "Legend of Drizzt" books being "over", at least for the time being, Salvatore is heading back to his "Corona" series. The new book will be out in January 2018.Would anyone like to do a re-read of the series to remind us of this wonderful world?
Hello Yvet,I will try to explain.
When the "Paths of Darkness" series of "The Legend of Drizzt" was originally published (1998-2001), the 4 books were "The Silent Blade", "The Spine of the World", "Servant of the Shard", and "Sea of Swords". After Salvatore wrote the "Hunter's Blades Trilogy" in the "Legend of Drizzt" series, and oversaw the "War of the Spider Queen" series (which isn't written by him and doesn't feature Drizzt directly, but other drow characters who will show up in the main Drizzt series later on), he decided to write a trilogy of adventures that featured Jarlaxle and Artemis Entreri. These 3 books ("Servant of the Shard", "Promise of the Witch King", and "Road of the Patriarch") have now become known as "The Sellswords" trilogy. From that moment on, "Servant of the Shard" (the book you are looking for) ceased to be "Paths of Darkness" Book 3 and became "The Sellswords" Book 1.
Is that clear?
I hope I have helped bring understanding.
Thanks!
Having read all 30 of the Legend of Drizzt books, this issue has never been addressed. The only interaction with get to see with Catti-Brie's "mom" is when she is growing up as Ruqiah.
The next (and possibly last) Drizzt book comes out in 30 days. Anyone interested in going through it?
Maestro's release is very soon. I am about 50 pages into an ARC copy and it is really good so far. Shall we establish an official read through when it comes out? I'd love to get the dialogue going.
This book comes out in early April. Is everyone caught up with Drizzt's adventures through Homecoming Book 1: Archmage? Shall we reread it before Maestro's release? Thoughts?
In light of Salvatore announcing (unofficially, but he talked about it at a book signing) his return to the world of Corona, I thought it would a be good starting book for this book club. Interested?
Never read a book by R.A. Salvatore? Or at least not many? Feel free to speak openly and ask questions about the author or his works.
The newest book in the Legend of Drizzt series has been released! Have you read it? What did you think?
