Thanks for the heads up on Close to Death. I just put it on reserve at my library. They have it in book and on CD.

Thank you for this introduction to Mrs. Presumed Dead. I have read all the Fethering Series by Simon Brett and a few of his Mrs. Pargeter's so I was delighted to find this one in our group read. I started it yesterday and I enjoy the precocious nature of Mrs. P. She's a lovable character and definitely no spinster. A relaxing mystery but none the less a mystery and this one starts off with a murder.
173974 The Grand Banks Cafe (Maigret, #9) by Georges Simenon.

There something about Maigret that I find so special...so unique. He's a detective a top notch Inspector and well respected as such. Maigret's method of deduction goes unseen by those around him and that's what I find so appealing.
Maigret's receives a letter from Jorissen a friend from school days asking for help in finding a former pupil of his innocent of the crime of murder. The letter goes on to explain that this crime took place after a 3 month fishing trip for cod aboard the Ocean a trawler. The Captain was found murdered after a mysteriously trying voyage that left the crew perplexed and without excuse as to why their catch was lacking to say the least.
The world of Maigret is one I've entered from afar several times and was never disappointed 5 stars.

I've enjoyed several John Dickson Carr's books and found them at Clearwater Public Library. Dr. Fell's a favorite.

Hi Leslie. I've read several Patricia Wentworth books. They're good old fashioned mysteries.

Hi and I'm very excited about this group. I am a big fan of Phyllis Atwood Taylor's Asey Mayo series and John Dickson Carr's Dr. Fell series. They are both from the Golden Age of Mysteries.
Lately I've been reading Scottish Swedish, Icelandic and British authors.
Looking forward to learn about recommendations.
