173974 I just bought a group of the Otto Penzler American Mystery Classics marked down to a great price by my local independent mystery bookstore so I'm going to nominate one of them. Death on the Aisle by Frances Lockridge and Richard Lockridge.

173974 I don't know if you are still looking for suggestions for series for buddy reads but one of my favorites is the John Putnam Thatcher series by Emma Lathen, Most are available on Kindle for a modest price. First in the series is Banking on Death. There are 24 books in the series.

173974 Certainly a variety of reactions to this one. I thought the characterization was great and I was not disappointed with the solution.
173974 There is no mention of what happens to them but I feel sorry for the two boys. Megan did not appear to be terribly fond of her half brothers so I don't suppose they would take them in. Maybe they just spend the rest of their young lives at boarding school.
173974 Enjoyed it but indeed Miss Marple is a secondary character.

I too saw no reason for the death of the cat. It came completely out of the blue.
