I really enjoyed this collection! I love to travel but for when I can't, I turn to literature to fill the spaces and give me a taste of what I'm missing. In the Country did a very good job of doing just that. My favorite stories were Shadow Families and The Virgin of Monte Ramon. Will definitely be recommending Mia Alvar to those I know.

Hello all! I'm Desiree and excited about joining this short story focused group. I've dabbled a bit with short story collections but haven't been super consistent in reading them. I recently counted the collections I've acquired and was surprised by the number(!) - a few are already in the recommendations list. Clearly this group will do me some good!
