176032 I have to spread out books by authors I love, because I'm sad when I've read them all and have to wait for them to write more :)

Example, I love the Ceepak mysteries (Fun House, Tilt a Whirl, etc.--adult mysteries featuring an ex-military detective and a young newbie cop, tough subjects, a little gory, set in a beach town in NJ) by Chris Grabenstein (author of "Mr. Lemoncello's Library Olympics" and other awesome juvenile fiction books!), but I'm working my way through them because there are only 8 or 9 of them.

Another is the Gretchen Lowell/Archie Sheridan series by Chelsea Cain (tough Portland detective Archie was captured and tortured by beautiful psycho Gretchen, who gets caught and put away but still has her fingers in all sorts of crazy murdery business Archie has to solve; psychologically interesting; some violence/gore).

When I'm not reading about murderous nutjobs, I tend toward fun juvenile fiction (Stuart Gibbs & Carl Hiaasen have been favorites lately) or chick lit (Marian Keyes is a go-to).

I've never read Hoover, Harris, OR Willig, so I'll have to check some of those out!!!

176032 Ugh, I hate when there's not a single likeable character...but I can usually find something redeeming in most anything I read. I'm not one to give up on books, and I think I tend to be generous with my Goodreads stars. I definitely find myself hoping for the end to come faster if I don't like the characters though. The last book I finished, "The Hopefuls" by Jennifer Close, was like that...Although I loved her writing and descriptions, I just didn't like the (whiny, needy, arrogant) characters. It seems like I've got rose-colored glasses on when doing my book reviews...how unlike life ;) Kidding. Sort of.
176032 literary: stuff it feels like i'd have to read for college. CAN i read it?...sure...DO i read it?...not so much ;)
