OK.... I read a lot. Mainly I read fantasy stuff but it is highly entertaining.

My favorite author is Diana Gabaldon. If you read her first book in the series "Outlander" you will be hooked

Other suggestions (most of these are series as well. I have a hard time just reading a single book):
Deborah Harkness: A Discovery of Witches
Juliet Dark: Demon Lover
Karen Marie Moning: Fae series. If you like more Romance try her Highlander series
Christine Feehan: Carpathian series. Can get too romance-y. Each book follows a different character in the group

I used to read a lot of Patricia Cornwell and Dan Brown when I was more into mysteries.
