Have you been to Disney World and can't wait to get back? Or have you never been but have been dreaming about it forever? Here's your chance to explore the attractions from the comfort of your own home - all while reading (hopefully) good books in the process.

HOW IT WORKS:

1. Let your tour guide know that you are ready to start your adventure here.

2. Your travel agent will get you a Disney Travelogue set up.

3. Looking at your Travelogue Map, choose your first attraction and declare it in your Travelogue thread.

4. Your Tour Guide will post tour info and tasks for completion at that attraction.

5. Once complete, post in your Travelogue the following:

Book:
Date Read:
Task:
How it Fits:

6. Be sure to let your Tour Guide know what your next attraction will be.

Disclaimer: This challenge was made at the beginning of 2016. Obviously, all attractions are subject to change in the real parks and may or may not be updated on the challenge. So, for you die-hard Disney fans, it may not be 100% accurate to the actual parks in the future. So, please remember this is STRESS FREE Challenges. Just roll with it :D

Notes:
1. I used The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World 2016 by Bob Sehlinger & Len Testa for much of the information for this challenge

2. As you can see, this is a massive challenge made up of exactly 100 Walt Disney World attractions. This is meant to be done at a relaxed pace. Take as much time as you need. Visit them in order or not. Skip around. Only do your favorites. Whatever. This is an interactive challenge that you can decide to do however you want.

3. I will be checking Travelogues at a MINIMUM of twice a day (once in the morning when I get up and once at night before bed). However, it is extremely likely that I will be active throughout the day. Bottom line: be patient. BUT if you go more than 12 hours without hearing from me, give me a holler! I may have missed you.

4. Depending on the popularity of this one, I would love to do a spin-off for Universal Studios Orlando. Let me know what you think when this one gets underway!

5. If you get stuck on an attraction and feel like there is NO WAY you can complete it, let me know in your Travelogue and we will see what we can come up with. I'm known for allowing a super secret extra task now and again. I don't want anyone to get frustrated and not have fun, so just ask. But only if you know that it's not possible for you to get it done. Please don't request it just because it doesn't fit into the four library books that you already have checked out at home. I think you will find that at least one of the tasks is super easy and most should be very searchable on Goodreads listopias and the like. If you are new to challenges, ask for help or suggestions! Don't be shy!

31. Jurassic Park Discovery Center

This interactive educational exhibit mixes fiction from the movie Jurassic Park, such as using fossil DNA to bring dinosaurs to life, with skeletal remains and other paleontological displays. One exhibit lets guests watch an animatronic raptor being hatched. Another allows you to digitally "fuse" your DNA with a dinosaur's to see what the resultant creature would look like.

description

To participate in this attraction, read a book that:
1. Has the word "dinosaur" in the text OR
2. Is non-fiction OR
3. Deals with genetics in some way

182245 ADVENTURE #1 - The Abominable Snowman

You yell to Carlos and tell him to look at the flashing light. Once again the light blinks three times, then stops. Then it blinks again. You ask Carlos what he thinks and say it might be trouble.

Sangee says that it could be an emergency signal, but that it is very far from here - across the valley and just below the glacier. He says that we could go or Sangee could return to Pokhara and report it to the authorities.

You ask how long it would take for him to get back to Pokhara. Sangee says he can go faster alone than the whole group could go, but that it would still probably take an entire day. But when he got there, they could send a helicopter back. Without outside help, Sangee says that there is little we could do if there is someone in trouble. But they also could need immediate help.

If you respond to the call for help, read a book that has anything to do with the medical field (a sick character, a nurse, etc - be creative). (A32)

If you decide to let Sangee return to Pokhara for help, read a book that has a title that starts with a letter in POKHARA. (A52)

5. The American Adventure

The American Adventure is a composite of everything Disney does best. Housed in an imposing brick structure reminiscent of Colonial Philadelphia, the 29-minute show is a stirring rendition of American history narrated by an animatronic Mark Twain and Ben Franklin. Behind a stage almost half the size of a football field is a 28-by-155-foot rear-projection screen (the largest ever used) on which motion picture images are interwoven with action on stage.

2. Is large (over 500 pages) OR
3. Has the number 29 intact in either the page number or date of publication

3. Liberty Belle Riverboat

The Liberty Belle Riverboat is an outdoor scenic boat ride, which lasts about 16 minutes. This large-capacity paddle-wheel riverboat navigates the waters around Tom Sawyer Island and Fort Langhorn, passing settler cabins, old mining paraphernalia, and Indian village, and a small menagerie of animatronic wildlife. A beautiful craft, the Liberty Belle provides a lofty perspective of Frontierland and Liberty Square.

1. Has a boat or ship on the cover or in the story somewhere OR
2. Has an author whose first and last initial that can be found in LIBERTYBELLE OR

3. Dream-Along with Mickey

The 20-minute Dream-Along with Mickey live show features Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and a few princesses and other secondary characters, plus human backup dancers, in a show built around the premise that (oh the horror!) Donald doesn't believe in the power of dreams. Crisis is averted through a frenetic whirlwind of song and dance.

The show is performed several times a day according to the season, with showtimes listed in the daily Times Guide. The Castle Forecourt Stage is elevated well above ground level, so good viewing spots are available all around Main Street's Central Plaza.

1. Has a scene where some sort of live performance is performed or attended (a play, concert, etc) OR

5. Tom Sawyer Island and Fort Langhorn

Tom Sawyer Island is an outdoor walk-through exhibit and rustic playground. The perfect place for rambunctious kids, the Island is kind of a getaway within the park. It has hills to climb; a cave, windmill, and pioneer stockade (Fort Langhorn) to explore; a tipsy barrel bridge to cross; and paths to follow. You can watch riverboats chug past. It's a delight for adults and a godsend for children who have been in tow and closely supervised all day. Access to the island is by raft from Frontierland.

description

To participate in this attraction, read a book that:
1. Takes place on an island at least partly OR
2. Has an author or character named Tom OR
3. Has a title that ENDS with a letter in LANGHORN

You can also get a cup of Butterbeer soft-serve here, usually with a much shorter wait than at Florean Fortescue's next door.

7. Festival of Fantasy Parade

Usually staged at 3pm, the afternoon parade features bands, floats, and marching Disney characters. A new production, Festival of Fantasy, debuted in 2014, with an original score and new floats paying tribute to The Little Mermaid, Brave, and Frozen, among other Disney films. Many of the floats' pieces swing and spin to extremes not normally found in Disney parades. The Tangled platform has characters riding swinging wood hammers from one side of the street to the other. The most talked-about float is Maleficent (the villain from Sleeping Beauty, and the star of her own feature film) in dragon form - she spits actual fire at a couple of points along the route.

10. Soarin'

Soarin' is a thrill ride for all ages, as exhilarating as a hawk on the wing and as mellow as swinging in a hammock. If you've ever experienced flying dreams, you'll have a sense of how Soarin' feels.

Once you enter the main theater, you're secured in a seat not unlike those on inverted roller coasters. When everyone is in place, the rows of seats wing into position, making you feel as if the floor has dropped away, and you're suspended with your legs dangling. You embark on a simulated hang-glider tour, with IMAX-quality images projected all around you and with the flight simulator moving in sync with the movie. The images are well chosen and drop-dead beautiful. Special effects include wind, sound, and even smell. The ride itself is thrilling but perfectly smooth.

A new ride film is expected to debut in 2016, along with a third ride theater to increase ride capacity by 50 percent. Rumor has it the new ride sequence will include flyover sequences from around the world, possibly with different, random sequences each time you ride.

description

To participate in this attraction, read a book that:
1. Has a character that can fly OR
2. Has a scene on a plane OR
3. Is a nice, easy, relaxing read

16. Terminator 2: 3-D

Terminator 2: 3-D is a 3-D thriller mixed-media presentation lasting about 20 minutes with an 8-minute preshow. The evil "cop" from Terminator 2 battles Arnold Schwarzenegger's T-100 cyborg character. In case you missed the Terminator flicks, here's a refresher: A bad robot arrives from the future to kill a nice boy. Another bad robot - who has been reprogrammed to be good - pops up to save the boy. The bad robot chases the boy and the good robot, menacing the audience in the process.

The attraction, like the films, is all action, and you really don't need to understand much. What's interesting is that it uses 3-D film and a theater full of sophisticated technology to integrate the real with the imaginary. Images seem to move in and out of the film, not only in the manner of traditional 3-D but also in reality. Remove your 3-D glasses a moment and you'll see that the guy on the motorcycle is actually on stage.

The 700-seat theater changes audiences about every 19 minutes. Even so, because the show is popular, expect to wait about 30 minutes. Families with young children will be relieved to know that the violence characteristic of the movie series is largely absent from the attraction - there's suspense and action, but not much blood and guts.

description

To participate in this attraction, read a book that:
1. Has a robot of some sort in the book OR
2. Has a main page genre of Action OR
3. Is a series "terminator" (last book in a series)
