Autumn, yeah, meeting Oprah was incredible. And nearly all of my family came (I have eight sibling), which was great. (One sister flew in, and my neice's friend drove her from Notre Dame to Chicago that morning.) I asked Oprah to wave to them during one of the commercial breaks, and she did, and they were pretty tickled.I did Rachel Maddow and BBC America, too, but both from studios in Denver. That was very odd. You look into a camera the whole time, pretending you're looking at the person chatting with you. (They told me many times to never look away from the camera, and it would feel like we could see each other.) For Rachel, I was in this giant studio the size of a football stadium, which was all pitch black, except for the area I was sitting, where these two huge light boxes were blinding me. Hahaha. Very weird how this stuff gets done. It was a little stressful, but mostly enjoyable.
I have not had a chance to see the film, either. Should I? Man, I've been out of it.On the book tour, I did just NY and Miami on the east coast trip; LA, SF and Seattle on the west coast; London and Dublin on the UK trip, and then several places around Colorado. (Full list of the US dates here: http://davecullen.com/tv-tour/tour-sc...
I was supposed to do DC and another event in NYC, but had to cancel to tape Oprah in the middle of the tour. (Then there was controversy about her running the show on the tenth anniversary, so she pulled it and it never aired, but it was very cool meeting Oprah and spending most of the day at the Harpo studios.)
hey, this thread moves FAST!i have to admit i have not started the Twilight books yet. they are on my list, but i couldn't really read anything for pleasure the last couple years.
(i had to get two one-year extensions to finish my book. if i had not finished in time for the tenth anniversary of Columbine, the whole project would have been canceled. and now the book launch has been like nothing i've ever been through before. for awhile, they barely let me sleep, or eat. it's starting to slow down.)
i hope to start on the first book this summer. i've got a lot of traveling still to do, and can read books on planes.
Hahaha. OK, that made my day.It never seemed that special a name before.
(And frankly, I think my parents could have come up with something a little more creative than Dave. Hahaha. (Legally, David, though my mom still calls me Davy. She thinks she's not supposed to in public, but I don't mind.))
So what do you guys think of Robert Pattinson playing Edward in the films?
Hahaha. I didn't even realize that guys were a rarity here. And I thought being an actual Cullen would be the novelty. I always seem to be the oddball everywhere I go. I'm not sure why that is, but it makes life interesting.
Hmmmmm. No votes for Dave. Sigh. LOL.Hey cullen-lovers. I saw this group and it gave me a big smile, considering my name (if my last name doesn't appear, it's Cullen). I was a little startled when the series came out and strangers started asking if I were related to a vampire. LOL. But I've enjoyed it.
I liked reading the header to the group, which says We are a family. I literally am part of the Cullen family--though I know you meant it figuratively.
(I do find it a bit odd/coincidential that Stephanie and I both write for Hachette, and they acquired us about the same time, one writing as a Cullen, the other about them. I think the company is a little more excited about acquiring her. Hahaha.)
I am eager to dive into the series, and hope to be back soon on that. It's been crazybusy launching my book, so no time for pleasure reads.
See you soon.
