When you say "survival," what do you mean?

Recently in my book, Mathew Clairmont, a vampire interested in Ashmole 782, just revealed to his daemon friend, Hamish, that he has fallen in love with Diana Bishop. The two creatures have been talking and conversing with one another for the past several weeks, but Diana doesn't show any interest in Mathew. There still hasn't been any evidence as to why Ashmole 782 is so significant.

This book is about a young scholar named Diana Bishop and she is also a witch. She lives among others like her, daemons, vampires, and humans. One day at Oxfords Bodleian Library, she pulled a book called Ashmole 782 down from the dusty shelf. Now, a horde of creatures keeps fallowing her everywhere she goes. I am not that far into this book, but I wonder what is so significant about this book and why do so many creatures want it?

How aggressive and vulgar would you say he is in this book compared to other books by different authors?
