50x66 I have since read some more of this book and it actually brings up some valid points regarding non-profit organizations. The authors talk about how much money that is donated to these organizations actually don't go to the people they say they are helping, but mainly to operating expenses such as buildings, employees, and promotional materials. They also said that in the first year of operation, it takes a $1.47 for every dollar they fund raise to cover their expenses. They also talked about mega-churches that are doing volunteer work in their community and overseas and how successful these have become. These don't require any sort of mass fundraising, but the generosity of the church. They mention that they have participated in feeding the hungry, housing the homeless, and helping developing countries overseas advance in their lifestyles.

50x66 This sounds like a book I might read because of the type of genre it is. I have read a few books by Sarah Dessen that I think would interest you if you really enjoy this book as they have similar plots to them. Just Listen was probably one of my favorite books by her and it is about this girl who is also struggling with depression and family issue and then she finally meets this older guy who has the same passion for music as her. They hit it off great and eventually fall in love, a classic teen book! I wounder if this author has some more books that are also probably similar to the one you are reading now? Is this book a part of a series or is it a one time deal?

50x66 I also think this is a great life lesson book to better understand how our lives are truly pieced together by luck. We cannot decide what circumstances we live in or what health related problems will come our way, but it is up to us to make the best of it to make the time we have left worth while.

50x66 I have only seen the movie and not the book, but it sounds like it closely aligns with that of the movie. These types of books always interest me as they deal with situations us teens can easily relate too and I believe that is the case for most of us.

50x66 This book is about research that has been conducted concerning non-profits as well as organizations that seek to better the surrounding community and world. There are no main characters, but steps in identifying the best way to give back based on your concerns. This is the first time I have tried reading a book of this type, but so far I have found it quite interesting. I believe that the personal stories of how these programs have had an effect has made a difference in my continuation in reading this book.
