I think the talents are based on personality but just being able to have one is genetic. I think the silver talents are passed down but newbloods have a gene mutation that makes them different from silvers.

The way I think of it is that being a newblood is a recessive trait and so the only way for the child to be a newblood is for Farely to also carry the gene. I don't think Farely's child will have powers but if she does she will most definitely teleport like Shade.

Maven has to be my favorite villain!! He reminds me a little of Joffery from Game of Thrones during the arena scene where Mare and Cal had to fight Evangeline. Honestly he is my favorite character to hate
