Mid-September update: I've fallen a bit behind, about 30% through Storm of Swords, but I'm determined to keep going and be finished with ADWD before 2017 hits. Welcome to all newcomers! I wanted this read-along group to go beyond the dates and just be a fun place to discuss the books, so feel free to join right in! :)

Anyone start A Feast For Crows? I'm still currently reading A Storm of Swords, but I'm not giving up! :)
Okay! Who's ready for book three? Anyone feeling burnt out yet?? Cannot wait to reread this one, it's my favorite of the series! :)
I'm about 10% from the end, I was so close to finishing on time! As a fan of the show, I so wish they would've kept the chain idea in the Blackwater episode, that would have been phenomenal. I also love, love blunt and tipsy Cersei so much.
I forgot how annoying Hot Pie was! When he yielded right away, blowing their cover, I was like what an idiot. I so agree about Stannis. He should've kept his eyes on the prize, aligned with Robb or Renly even, and fought the Lannisters together. What a waste.
I just started, I need to read a ton this weekend to catch up! But man, I forgot how long that prologue was. Stannis is so frustrating. And ugh, Mel. Honestly if everyone would have united against the Lannisters, the Lannisters would have been defeated, but instead Stannis wanted to wage war against everyone, including his brother. Super frustrating.

And then I realized that she really is only a child, and under these crappy circumstances, she had to make do with what she was given in order to survive. She literally saw her father beheaded and then had to still be kind to those who killed him, gotta give the poor girl a break.
I FINISHED. Whew. Since I'm rereading the series, it's amazing to me how many clues and foreshadowing tidbits there are throughout this first book. I loved rereading it even more than reading it for the first time! I caught on to so many things (that I won't mention here, since I know some of you are reading for the first time :))
Sansa's last chapter really hit me hard. I've always disliked her, but reading her last chapter, and seeing her in utter despair...it makes me feel guilty for disliking her for so long. She is literally in the worst situation possible.
Dany's arc in this book is just phenomenal. I can't say enough about it.
Ned's chapters are riddled with clues and foreshadowing, and I loved that so much, and then of course, his chapters were also heartbreaking. Five years later, I'm still not over his death.
Jon is my favorite and has always been my favorite. I loved his exchange with Maester Aemon so much.
I can't say I have much love for Cat's chapters, but I loved when she snapped back at the men for calling her the more gentle sex: "Give me Cersei Lannister, and you would see how gentle a woman can be. Perhaps I do not understand tactics and strategy...but I understand futility." BOOM.
I'm 78% through it with three days left! GAH, roughly 130 pages according to my Kindle version. I'm doing thiss! So happy you're all enjoying it. I think Dany's chapters are some of my favorites in this book--her story arc in AGoT is so great.
Talia wrote: "That was such a good episode! OMG cannot wait for the next book and the next season! I was so shocked by Tommen walking out that window! But not shocked at all by Cersei killing all those people. H..."YES. The hidden gem of that episode (or the part I don't see many people talking about) is Dany naming Tyrion Hand of the Queen. FINALLY SOMEONE GENUINELY APPRECIATES HIM.
Jesse wrote: "Tonight's opening kings landing scenes blew my mind. I'm still trying to recover from the losses and the intensity from the episode. Such a great finale, and I'm dying for season 7. It's gonna be a..."Margaery was my favorite. I'm dead. Probably won't recover before next season xD

Maybe I will add a new comment later on where I tal..."I'm about halfway through and even though I'm behind, I'm DETERMINED to finish by the end of June. I do not want to fail this read-along! :) All of the Cat chapters make me put the book down LOL. Always have, always will.
Talia wrote: "I'm glad Sansa is toughening up, but why did she not clue Jon in about the knights of the Vale? He flat out asked her what she thought they should do, and she said I don't know! Share your plans wi..."I felt this way too until I thought about it, and maybe she wasn't 100% sure they'd show up? Also, no way would Jon have trusted Littlefinger, or maybe even Sansa if she'd have mentioned the possibility of Littlefinger saving the day.
About the upcoming battle episode---Ramsey better die! I didn't even hate Joffrey this much (at least I think). I can't decide which would be better, Sansa killing him, or Ghost killing him. Also Arya's line from last episode was sooo chilling. "A girl is Arya Stark of Winterfell, and I'm going home." YES.
Cat chapters really are the worst. I almost wish that Robb had POV chapters and not Cat, but I feel like this series (overall) revolves around the strong women inside of it.
Evie wrote: "For me the link works good enough, but it works better on the pc. Ahh, I like the story so far! I have to admit that I like some POVs over the others and am tend to rush through some chapters lol..."
The ages always throw me off, especially after watching the show and what happens to these characters, just makes it all the more heartbreaking honestly. And I definitely agree, some POVs are much better than others. I know a lot of people hate Cat's chapters for example xD.
Also, sorry to everyone about the chapter confusion, I wasn't thinking about the lack of actual chapter numbers when I set up the discussion board. Thanks to Jesse for providing that link! :)
That episode blew my mind, and I may have cried at least twice. But now I have so many theories about Bran, now that he is able to cause things to happen...What if he's THE Bran the Builder, who built the wall?? Craziness.
