193869 Odessa by Jonathan Hill.

Wide-ranging post-apocalyptic YA graphic novel with great indie art and great comic book story-telling.

193869 Upgrade Soul by Ezra Claytan Daniels
Complex and thoughtful sci-fi. Nominated for a ton of awards. Easily accessible (it is available as an eBook as part of an ongoing Humble Bundle right now) as well.

193869 A couple things I've been enjoying:

Mr. Higgins Comes Home and Our Encounters with Evil: Adventures of Professor J.T. Meinhardt and His Assistant Mr. Knox are both lots of fun, with my preference going to the second volume, where artist Warwick Johnson Cadwell takes the writing reins from Mike Mignola and crafts some seriously fun, silly, and spooky tales.

Three issues in on Skulldigger and Skeleton Boy and teally enjoying it, super clean and propulsive storytelling. Connected to Jeff Lemire's Black Hammer universe but I haven't read that and had no problems just dropping right into this story.
193869 Oh I also finally wrapped the first book (volume? Whatever, the first 18 issues) of Saga. Not exactly for me, but fun.

Welcome, François! This is a great group :) Be sure to pop over to the Introduce Yoursel..."

I did it!

Yeah, I am definitely intrigued by Protector, I heard about it on my friends' podcast Process Party (plug!) and it was definitely lots of fun. Not surprising from Simon Roy (Habitat et al) but there is a lot of attention to the world-building (perhaps too much, because tho' the like, almanac style info pages are fun, I definitely preferred piecing together the cluse without them).

193869 Hey all!

My name is François Vigneault, I am an American-born comic book creator and reader living in Montréal, Québec. I fell into comics back in the 1980s/90s, and I like a little bit of everything: Cut my teeth on TMNT and X-Men, moved on to Vertigo, Dark Horse, and the alternative comics scene (Los Bros Hernandez, Clowes, Doucet, etc), got into the more indie/art side of things (self-published comics, Fort Thunder, etc), plenty of Franco-Belgian BD, and now a little bit of everything.

These days I definitely read less comics than I used to (which is ironic because I am drawing more comics than I ever have), but some recent-ish books I have enjoyed include Beauty, Black Widow, Sword of Ages, Sunny, and more.

This sub seems like it is fun and active, looking forward to seeing what people are reading and maybe have some discussions! I've been of FB for a couple years now so I really enjoy the little interaction you get here on reddit!

This last week I read the first two issues of "Protector" by Simon Roy, Daniel M. Bensen, Artyom Trakhanov, et al. Really propulsive post-post-apoclayptic comic set thousands of years in the future. The art is gorgeous.
