The John Purkiss saga about a fictional counter intelligence officer who acts as the one man internal affairs department of UK SIS. The series has a very compelling premise. Appearing first in "Ratcatcher", Purkiss is called in, when Service officers are abusing their positions, or on the verge of causing a public scandal, in order to hunt them down and permanently terminate their employment.

It's written by a doctor, Tim Stevens who uses his medical knowledge to give fight scenes a more vivid feel and other, surprising ways. He's also done his research on tradecraft and technology to a high standard, while blending it in with excellent characterisation and vivid action scenes, which should be commended for a first time author with no experience in the intelligence world.
