On 21st March 2017 on of the really big names in the field of hypnosis and hypnotherapy passed on. Since 1979 he trained thousands of hypnotherapists all over the world including MD's, dentists, psychologists and people from various backgrounds. He founded the OMNI Hypnosis Training Center with now more than 30 training Centres worldwide and a curriculum that is followed by about 1000 students yearly. In my book I write about him: "Already from a very young age Gerald Kein - Jerry as he is called by friends and colleagues - was fascinated by and active with hypnosis. He is a graduate of Rollings College in Winter Park Florida and holds a degree in education. At a very young age he came into contact with Elman; he was one of the few non-medical personnel to be trained by Elman . The work in the field of hypnosis by Jerry is remarkable."
I am very grateful for the foreword he wrote for my book which I post here below:
"When I first started learning hypnotism back in the late 40s there was very little written material about how to do hypnosis. Most of the books back then were listed for sale in the back of magazines in the classified sections. There were no videos or CDs. Learning was purely experimental. Over the years since then as more and more hypnotist came into the profession first books, then audiotapes, then CDs began to appear. Today, the hypnosis learning resources one has are almost infinite. The only problem today is most books seem to be rewrites of earlier books and do not offer much new information.
Ina Oostrom is definitely an exception to that rule. I remember winning the first of my class many years ago she was suffering from a disease that I call "The Hypnotism Fever." She was so excited about what she was going to be able to do and how many people she was going to be able to help with her new skill it was hard to keep her still in class. It's obvious to me that over the years she has enhanced her skills tremendously and is now an excellent hypnosis instructor and after reading this book she is an excellent writer.
People frequently ask me to write a forward to the book they've written but I am very selective in doing this. Unless I consider a book will add information at the professional level I generally decline. Ina's book is a joy to read. It is written so you can actually understand what she is talking about in a clear and usable manner.
It is said that eventually the teacher learns from his student and that's very true in this case. This book is well-written, easy to read and terrifically informative. If you want to enhance your hypnosis education and learn how to use techniques taught in a simple to learn step-by-step technique you really need to have this book in your library. I look forward to reading future contributions by Ina as, like I teach my students, I never want to stop learning.
Congratulations Ina on a wonderful book that I know will be well accepted in the hypnosis community and for any others who are considering getting into this work. You remove the fear, mystery and misconceptions of the profession that many people have."
He missed very much by many people from the hypnosis community.
Quote for the book Hypnosis the Key to Self-Empowerment Hypnosis is as old as humanity since it involves establishing selective thinking. In the case of hypnotherapy, we are given suggestions to the subconscious mind in order to cure a problem.
A properly trained and licensed health professional can address mental health issues, as well as other medical problems from a psychosomatic perspective using the mind body connection.
Throughout the history of hypnosis, its use has been repressed in a number of cases; still hypnosis is not yet fully embraced by the general public as a viable means for healing the mind and body. In the field of neuroscience, we no longer need to convince scientists that hypnosis is real and can have a major impact; scientists now make use of hypnosis for testing various conditions of the human mind. Furthermore, an increasing number of hospitals are using hypnosis either for problems such as irritable bowel syndrome and pain elimination; moreover, some operations are performed with hypnosis as the sole anesthetic.
The use of hypnosis could dramatically reduce the cost of healthcare. While it could be a viable means to prevent illness, it still it does not have the place it deserves. In the mind of many people, including physicians and dentists, hypnosis is considered ‘hocus pocus’ and not believable. That is contrary to extensive scientific research that has been conducted and the great results that have been established in many fields in relation to hypnosis. One of the major factors that hypnosis is not widely used in our society is the fact that it is not linked to an important business model which generates large amounts of money. Money is the driving force behind much in our society, including the health industry. Whereas Western 'medicine' is unparalleled in history with regard to issue areas such as emergency, surgery, heart failure and such, the results for curing people from chronic diseases and illnesses such as cancer lag behind.
