Short answer: it will make a lot more sense the further you get. You’ll notice direct overlaps/intersections in said paths and be like “....OHHHHH!”

Ha, funnily enough, I bought the 3-part soft cover edition not knowing there WAS a hard cover! While you're totally right about the portability, I would much rather switch. Somehow it feels less "collectible".

I have to say, this has been the most daunting read of my entire life, and only finally now as of book 2 has it become even remotely worth the effort. I've made it this far, and I don't intend to quit.
All fascinating core concepts: Angels and demons, ghosts and the afterlife, The Butterfly Effect, etc. Love, love, love them all respectively. But holy shit, does Moore really have to describe every single brick of every single house of every single street of his shitty England town? That's my biggest pet-peeve so far, to the point where i've been tempted to abandon the book. Brilliant prose indeed, but when you think about it, very little actually happens when you actually trim the fat.
