21892 Hi Lauren,

A book giveaway is an opportunity to promote the book leading up to and for the full duration of the giveaway.

Authors can have a number of different ways for readers to qualify for the giveaway and ways to gain extra entries, ie: subscribing to a newsletter, following them on Twitter, giving their Facebook Fan page a "like", etc.

Authors can also ask that the winner(s) write a review of their book if they have time.

Thanks.

All My Best,
Bobbie

21892 Hi Everyone,

I am SO very sorry about being so late to the chat on Friday. My son's football practice ran too long so I got home as quickly as I could to join in. I apologize for my tardiness and it ever happens again please go on and start without me!

21892 Hello Ladies,

The May 2010 Book Club Selection is Sweetness in the Belly by Camilla Gibb.

About Sweetness in the Belly:

"Like Brick Lane and The Kite Runner, Camilla Gibb’s widely praised new novel is a poignant and intensely atmospheric look beyond the stereotypes of Islam. After her hippie British parents are murdered, Lilly is raised at a Sufi shrine in Morocco. As a young woman she goes on pilgrimage to Harar, Ethiopia, where she teaches Qur’an to children and falls in love with an idealistic doctor. But even swathed in a traditional headscarf, Lilly can’t escape being marked as a foreigner. Forced to flee Ethiopia for England, she must once again confront the riddle of who she is and where she belongs."

If you would like to participate, please pick up a copy of the selected title as soon as you can. Please do your best to read it before May 15th, 2010 if you an Official Member. You can purchase a copy, borrow it from a friend or family member or you can borrow a copy from your local library.

All Official Members will meet (online) on Friday, May 28th, 2010 to chat.

21892 The Last River Child by Lori Ann Bloomfield

About The Last River Child:

In the summer of 1900, a meteorite lands on the day of Peg Staynor's baptism, barely missing the small church in rural Ontario. This, along with Peg's almost colorless eyes, is enough to resurrect a local superstition that will haunt Peg and her family for years. Many believe Peg to be a "river child," taken over by an evil spirit from the Magurvey River that winds its way through the town. Feared and shunned throughout her childhood, Peg is blamed for every misfortune, from drought to ailing livestock. When her mother, her fiercest protector, dies suddenly on the same day WWI is declared, young Peg must face not only the mistrust of the villagers, but of her father. His grief has driven him to take solace in drink and old superstition, leaving Peg with only her head-strong older sister, Sarah, for support. It will take the terrible reality of World War I to shake off the grip of old world beliefs. As the town's young men begin to return mentally and physically damaged, or not return at all, the sheltered atmosphere of the town is broken. A bright flame of change will sweep through everyone's lives, leading Peg into the future.

All Official Members will meet (online) on Friday, April 23rd, 2010 to chat.

21892 I’ve finished the book! I have to admit that INKHEART the book, in my opinion, is WAAAAAY better than the movie! I'm so glad that I read it. :)

Are you ready for Friday's book chat?
