"Throughout the several chapters, the sisters have attended a catholic schoool. They are starting to meet more and more people that are involved with General Trujillo. One of the sister's friend had uncles that were killed by his forces due to talk of them overthrowing his power. During a play performed for Trujillo's birthday, Sinita aimed a bow at trujillo. She then was forced to untie one of her castmates with her teeth."-Cameron
What theme does the author seem to be implying?
"The theme is about corruption in the Dominican Republic."
We have seen that there are many different influences of corrupted leadership within their town and government. The girls are constantly in fear.

Does the book remind you of any real-life experiences?
This reminds us of Venezuela. This is because we can see the prevalent corruption of government and how it has caused people to live in fear and hunger.
