I read the first couple issues as they came out and stopped. There was nothing wrong with them but I didn't want the characters to influence how I pictured the characters when I re-read the books. Also, I liked preserving the mystery of what happened at Jericho Hill and things of that nature.
I don't think I can wait a whole month before starting the next book so I may be starting book 2 on the 15th.I made this this morning using one my desert photographs.
This will be my third time completely through but I've read the first four books a crazy amount of times. The deaths are still tough.
I saw something on Facebook yesterday about Liam Neeson as a possible Roland. I thought that was interesting.
Joe Hill's NOS4A2 had a couple Dark Tower references in it. Maybe King's planning on handing the Dark Tower off to his sons in a few years.
Maybe it's in the Wind Through the Keyhole? I've only read that one once so it would be easy to forget.
I'm reading NOS4A2 by Joe Hill and the doors to Mid-World are referenced as well as It, Shawshank, and The Stand.

I always pictured him looking like Lee Van Cleef circa 1966 but Robert Carlyle is a really good choice.
I liked the ending. King sowed seeds for it in the revised edition of The Gunslinger. Walter says something like "You never learn. You never will. How many pairs of boots will you wear out on your journey to the Dark Tower?" It also leaves the door open for King to rewrite the entire series in the future with a different ending.
