Hi all!As you may/may not know, myself and Greg X Graves run a podcast dedicated to webfiction:
http://www.webcastbeacon.com/category...
We are looking into getting shorter newscast episodes running - instead of looking in depth at one topic, run a short episode updating people on recent webfiction news, developments, etc.
For example: if you've started a new serial, finished a serial, reached a milestone, released it in print, won something shiny, set up an exciting new initiative, plus things like WeSeWriMo etc.
If you have any news to share, just drop a note here, or message me. It probably won't start till September, so if you know about anything happening then, that would be great!
Hi Chris - I assume you've submitted to be listed on Web Fiction Guide (http://webfictionguide.com/) and Muse's Success? If not, get on it! :-)
And welcome to the fold.
Forgot to mention this here!Myself and co-host Greg X Graves are running an hourly monthly podcast on the joys and wonders of webfiction.
Full show archives are at http://www.webcastbeacon.com/webficti...
If you would like to be involved - as a guest or by submitting excerpts of your story to be read, check out this web fiction guide forum post:
http://forums.webfictionguide.com/top...
Don't know if everyone on this group saw that there's been discussions to set up a Webfiction Writers Guild? There's a 5-second survey up which closes Oct 27 to try help pinpoint the guild mandates/definitions and thus it would be great if you could take it!

Also feel free to pass along to any webfiction writers you know of, too!
Don't know whether this is the best place to post about it but it's another initiative to promote webfiction as a medium, so....In case you haven't heard about it MCM and I (with Ergofiction backing) have planned/produced an anthology of 12 short stories featuring webfiction writers to help spread the word about some of the work out there and introduce noobs to the field.
It launches October 14 (will be free to download from the main Ergo site) and it's also listed on Goodreads - http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/94...
If any of you are interested in being part of the blog tour etc, hit me up - would be much appreciated. :-) If this all goes well we're thinking of making it an annual initiative, selecting 12 new voices to showcase every year.
Hello all,Don't know if you saw Eli James' post on Novel about the current state of online fiction ( http://www.novelr.com/2010/09/13/the-... )
The end result is this google group, which I would encourage you to join or check out if you are interested in collaborating with others to help push the medium beyond its boundaries - http://groups.google.com/group/fictio...
But do you have to write bite-sized fiction? Or fiction solely for the site? Or can you repost stuff?
Aw! Thanks for the shoutout to Ergofiction. For the curious, the link to our magazine is http://www.ergofiction.com/
It's a magazine aimed at spreading the word and the love about webfiction. I should've thought to mention it here!
Oh well then definitely - the more consistent you are about updating and the more stuff that's up, the more readers you'll get. People are a little hesitant about reading new things I think - they're not as sure the story will continue!
@Tom Let me know if you need any other tips - you may find some of the forums at www.weblit.us useful ;-)
Michael wrote: "Do you guys do a lot of novel reading online?"I read quite a bit online - there is a lot of good quality free stuff up, and I am not adverse to paying a little for ebooks I really want, either.
It's on my to-read list; will get to it when I can. Is it listed on WFG? (I have a bad tendency to write reviews)
That's a great blurb, I'll be sure to check it out.*edit: Shannon - you're "if you're a new reader click here" thing doesn't work*
@Tom - I prefer wordpress, but livejournal is fine, a lot of people use it! Just make sure it's easy to navigate & you include links to the next chapter at the bottom of every entry.Ways to get readers:
-after you've set up the first few chapters, submit your listing to Web Fiction Guide, Muse's Success, Epiguide & any other forum/web fiction directory
-twitter is a good source, but don't spam people with self-promotion
-being an active reader in the genre you're writing is helpful, too.
Can't think of anything else at the moment...
Oooh!I also read The Dreamland Chronicles & xkcd and occasionally Girls With Slingshots.
I'm also a fan of Questionable Content, and the rather controversial Cyanide & Happiness.
But I really recommend Freakangels (NSFW), which I only started reading a few days ago: http://www.freakangels.com/
