23366 I finished The Spy and I at the beginning of the month and I loved it. The heroine isn't so much the action heroine (well, kind of), but her sister is definitely in the vein of Sydney Bristow.

23366 Happy New Year. Sorry I haven't been on as much. 2020 was quite a year, which I think we can all agree on.

Here are some tv/movies I've been enjoying with action heroines:

Ava (Jessica Chastain is very capable, and she nails the action scenes. I thought some of the family interactions aspects brings the story down a bit. I loved seeing OG Kickbutt Geena Davis as her mom).
Peppermint (Jennifer Garner was fantastic. She had an edge that felt very authentic.
Moana ( this was such a good movie, beautiful animation and very inspiring)

I forgot the other one...

23366 Hey everyone. Sorry I've been absent. Life has really been hectic lately. I'm on summer break (other than work and internship), so I hope to be around more.

I have been watching some good tv on streaming service:

True Blood: I breezed through the whole series on Amazon Prime. It's got its moments, but overall, this was a really good show. It has a few action heroines of different types. Sookie turned out to be such a great lead character. She's not necessary who you would think of as an action heroine, but she's brave and rises to the occasion whenever she needs to. I really loved Tara and Jessica as well.

Alias is back on streaming. It's on Amazon Prime, and I'm happy to rewatch the show. I love Sydney so much. I'm on Season Two right now. Just started it this week.

Teen Wolf: My sister was really hugely into this show a few years ago. I missed out. This is a great show. I'm really loving it. Alison is definitely an action heroine. She's a hunter by heritage and a formidable archer. Kira is a new character in season 3 and she's a kitsune (fox maiden) by heritage. She's kickbutt as well.

I also rewatched Black Panther and Avengers Infinity War. Both movies have great action heroines. Black Panther has an all female elite guard called the Dora Milaje that protect the king, T'Challah. Okoye is the lead and T'Challah's right hand woman. She's fantastic. Nakia is more of a spy also a great fighter. Shuri is a tech genius, but she's good at fighting as well. Avengers Infinity War is chock full of action heroine goodness: Black Widow, Okoye, Wanda (Scarlet Witch), etc.

23366 Early in January, I read Queen of Zazzau, which is based on Amina, a real queen in west Africa. Lots and lots of action.

23366 Oh, yeah. I love Sara! Amaya aka Vixen (introduced season 2) is also great. I haven't gotten into Supergirl yet.

23366 Some Action Heroines that I've watched lately on TV:

Nikita on CW Nikita show (Netflix)
Starfire/Kory Anders on Titans show (DC Universe)
Detective Misty Knight on Luke Cage (Netflix)
Colleen Wing on Iron Fist (Netflix)

I have a feeling you'll like it, Werner. It's well plotted and the heroine is multi-dimensional. I love how smart she is.

23366 I'm reading The Queen of Swords. Very good for action heroines. Starts out great and has had a couple good action scenes so far.

23366 My recommendation for a must read Action Heroine book for December is The Chemist by Stephenie Meyer. The lead character is very unique and a survivor. She is a specialist in biochemical poisons and using natural substances to interrogate people. She has to go on the run when someone tries to kill her at her government agency. I loved this book. I am a Twilight fan, full disclosure, but you don't have to love Twilight to appreciate this book. Meyer proves that she can write darned good suspense and it's worth checking out!

23366 I think you would like it, Werner.

23366 I'm reading The Chemist and it has a very worthy action heroine. Worth checking out. Very good suspense book.

She's not in the first book, just FYI. There is a cool teenager girl character in the first book, and she's an action heroine in her own right though.

23366 My July 2017 Book Recommendation:

It's a bit unorthodox, because my action heroine is actually initially not the star of the series. She is introduced in book two of the series, but she's freaking awesome, and she continues to be a part of this excellent series.

Jessica Reel is a government assassin and she plays hardball. She is introduced as an antagonist, but from the beginning, I rooted for her to be more than a bad guy.

The book is The Hit. You might want to start with The Innocent, but you don't have to.

23366 I saw Wonder Woman last Sunday and I really enjoyed it. I am excited to see a lifelong role model for girls brought to the skin in such a respectful and faithful manner. Gal Gadot was excellent as Diana, and the acting and storyline was all around good. Awesome action scenes. I am excited for Justice League in November.

23366 Okay, so December is my month to recommend a book. I want to apologize for posting this late. I decided to recommend Running from the Devil by Jamie Frevellitti.

This is my recommendation because the lead is a woman and she has some good action moments. No, she's not a Rambo, but she saves the day. I like that she's essentially a normal woman (albeit a scientist) who is put in an extranormal situation and saves the day. Readers who like survival situations, will appreciate this book. Emma is put in a situation where she uses her knowledge base to survive in the jungle and shows a lot of integrity and courage despite her dangerous situation. I read this from my library, but it encouraged me read the other books in a series, and I will when I am able to.
