50x66 It would be nice to read together, but my bad I have not e-mailed any of my friends on good-reads. We are not reading a book and missed Slims offer on Aladden but the format is there.
The poems are personel and gave me faith through this dark year, kinda like the bell jar did :)Walt makes you feel like he is next to you and the poems give great insight to then and now in our time of crisis. Satin or Saint he moistens all the roots as each (religous or not) exist in us. The book stalls and then finishes fast and I am not ready to finish it yet~

50x66 I am almost finished with Leaves of Grass. I will confirm the edition I read but I think it is un cut... The dude really relates to our theme as first stated but I see more problems with his optimisim as I read. The general feel of the book is so far reaching his poems have timeless depth but you do feel as if he is speaking or mocking (to) you. It is very personal conversation which is timeless. Was he a gay man?> I could not say... his relation to time of war is in my perspective and his relation to nature also follows this GNW mans perspective. Walts understanding of industry may change with results to present as he still lives in this book forever. His relation to religion is also of question to me but though he might have spawned new insights I still think Mr. Whitman was a little too proud for me. The whole theme is one for a thesis and I need help there but I will cherish this book forever.

50x66 well, we are reading, I got an invite from Slim to read Arabian nights and was wondering if this was a digest request. I like hearing bout members reading but for group situation. well I am now and my current read is lost by gma comments and I would like to finish first but realy I would like to say that our situation in AMERICA in current times has changed~ The industry along rivers and our purpose as a nation is at hand. The very being of his works only shows the problems we now face. This situation is as mine and I would like to say That I am concerned. A group read is not confusing yet I feel we do need to get together and read what Slim proposed or comment bout it. Walt is cool hell I am not sure how Don digested

50x66 I think I have most books this group read but someone more in tune might want to fill those shelves up and get this thing started!
