Guernsey was occupied by the Germans during World War 2. My mum evacuated to England, along with half the population before they invaded, but my dad didn't get off the island in time. For 5 years they lived apart, but when war ended she returned to him and I was born 11 years later.

In 2009 I received an email from a stranger , a girl called Charley, claiming to be my sister's grand daughter. Yet I was an only child, so how could this be? But Charley had birth certificates for 2 babies, born during the war, and both with the same unusual Guernsey surnames as my parents ...

So who were these 2 wartime babies? What part had one of them already played in my life and what part would we play in each other's lives moving forwards?
