You probably need to go to the help desk. This group cannot make changes like that.

Check out the thread "Book Promotion Sites - the ones that actually work." Lots of info there.

Nope. Not sure paid reviews are even allowed on Amazon.

I'm not sure how active you have to be to qualify. I have 8 novels published and participate in several groups here, so I guess I am an active author.
What are we going to discuss here?

I assume it was the help desk getting back to you. Probably just took time for them to investigate. Good to see that it has been taken care of.

Let us know what happens.

Hmm, maybe try the Librarians. Not sure why no one is getting back to you. In the past, help desk usually got a response.

Have you gone to the help desk? Many areas within Goodreads, including this one is monitored by volunteers who have very limited authority to make changes to anything.

Interesting and a potential problem for us all.
Dave Chesson just did a news letter that addresses this very issue. He included links to various articles that detail what you can and should do. I've subscribed to his emails for a while and he's pretty good at what he does. You might email him at this address and see if you can get that newsletter. dave@kindlepreneur.com
Good luck and keep us informed of what happens.

Tilly has a good point in that reviews are not all they are cracked up to be. Good cover, good blurb is more important.
Also, you might check into the group posts at Book Promotion Sites - the ones that really work within this group. Lots of info there.
Good luck with your launch.

Unfortunately the administrators of this group, me included, cannot do things like that. The help desk is a better place to ask for things like this.

Sorry, no idea. Maybe someone else here will have a suggestion.

I'd say definitely change the title. Otherwise, give it a go, with a good query letter.

Lethe, I have changed the name of the folder and the pinned read first post already covers this pretty well so I'm leaving it as is. Thanks :)

Lethe - suggestion for a different name - I do agree that "Ask Goodreads" is not useful but looking at the folders already there leaves me wondering what I should call it - maybe "General Discussions"

I'm with A. No names.

try the librarians - we do not have authority to change anything on someone else's pages.

Merry Christmas a Happy and Healthy New Year to all.

I pretty much rate and review every book I read, though often only here on GR and not other sites. The exception is for indie authors who do not have thousands of reviews I will do one on Amazon. Only one book in the last several years that I did not rate or review because it was so bad that I couldn't finish it and before I did anything I tried to contact the author to talk about it. No response so rather than trash the book I just skipped reviewing it.

I tried the Amazon ads but they cost me more money than I made. I now have several good promo newsletters I save up..."Which newsletter? And about bargain booksy, I've used them a couple of times with mixed results. Will use them again.
