This might sound harsh, but, my favorite part in the story is when his step father is killed. Gerald, and his family, are finally free from all the headaches, inguries, lonely nights up crying.. there just free. It almost brought tears to my eyes, there family could finally start a new chapter with out violence, a fresh chapter, full of happiness.

The conflict in my story, is that, you have a young kid, with so much baggage piled up in his life, that he just will eventually snap, and that's not a healthy way to live, at all. Gerald really is struggling with alot, i mean, he burned his own house down at 3, his mother is a drug dealer, and he his only father figure in life, abuses him, and the one he loves.

The mood of my story, i would say, is very tragic, and eye opening.. because so many unexpected things happen at once, I'm always "on-edge" reading the book. The author really digs deep in detail, to make us think the reader is actually visually there, watching the things happen. For example, "If you don't sit your stinkin', useless butt back down in that shopping cart, I swear I'll bust you in your greasy face!"

My favorite character in the book, so far, is the main character, Gerald, because I feel as if I can relate to him, in the sense of, going through struggles in life, and overcoming them no matter what obsticles try to tell us other wise. He's tall, dark skin, and a real quiet type, most likely because he has many secrets about his past that he doesn't want to really let out, as of yet.

Well, so far.. my book is about a young boy name Gerald.. that faces many heartaches in his life. He accidently set his house on fire when he was 3 years old, left alone by his drug addict mother, of course, his mother had to go to jail. So, he has nothing to really look forward to in life, besides his half sister, Angel. He has to protect him, and her, from their abusive father figure. Gerald has to work hard to keep his family tight, and together. Next in the story, I think he'll Gerald will learn to hate his stepfather, because he's a drug addict, and for the fact that he abuses his half sister, which is why Gerald feels he has to fill in that spot, of Angles guardian, and take over, as the man of the house.
