I didn't actually know there was a confirmation about a movie deal- this is great news! So much hype. Gotta keep my expectations way down to the ground so I don't get let down. Speaking of new movies based on fantasy books, I'm looking forward to the Dark Tower movies too!

I'm doing Year 12, so I wouldn't have the time for it myself, this year anyway.

I've got some ideas for how we could do it if we decided to take it up.
I'm 19, so I don't think I could be Tom- perhaps Shrike? I've got a really good recording mic, so I can record at home and get it done relatively quickly. Anyone got preferences for who you'd like to voice? Remember, only do it if you are confident in your own ability.
To collaborate, we could upload each individual recording we each make to audiofarm.com or yourlisten.com. That way, we can all download each others stuff and review it, as well as edit it or just listen to it!

ME has had a pretty massive impact- I mean, look at the reviews! All the same, I don't think the series has had as much international, overwhelming popularity as a lot of the big young- adult fiction franchises have had.
I'd absolutely love to do a project where- instead of a chapter each- we each assign a character, and someone else is the narrator. If we're honest about our abilities (aka only doing it if we think our acting will be sufficient) and don't sell it (for copyright reasons) it could be of immense value to us and anyone we know who likes it.
PS this is altogether hypothetical at this point- just some ideas!

I think an audio book for this series would absolutely rock. Mmm... maybe a free- time project?

Hey all, great to see some more discussion here! I'm not sure which one is my favourite... they all stand out in their own right as unique works. All the same, Infernal Devices really shocked me- it was so gritty, brutal and intriguing. By the way, if you haven't already, check out the photos section, I've uploaded a few new ones!

The Fever Crumb books bring some crucial insights into the origins of the Mortal Engines world. Making the connections between the prequel series and the main quartet shows us new aspects of the story that we have never seen before. Let's discuss how we think the Fever Crumb series connects it's plot and characters to the wider world of Mortal Engines.

Shrike is arguably the most enduring character of the Mortal Engines series. However, many of his actions seem unexplained and erratic. Through the series, we find Shrike taking part in some of the most important parts of the series (no spoilers!) What makes characters like Shrike so intriguing, and why do we like him so much? What are his origins? What do you think makes this monster into a hero?

That picture is awesome! Looking forward to the next book.

I've been offline for some time, it would be great to start this group back up! Scriveners Moon seems to concude the series, but I do think Reeve could add another instalment. PS you could take a picture of the drawing on your camera and put it on your computer. Then just upload it!

Web of Air is coming to Australia on the first of July! For those who haven't read it, what are you most looking forward about it? What do you think is going to happen next? Will, perhaps, Fever Crumb be changed from her loss of Godshawks' memory...?

The fact that Reeve has overcome the 'moneymans syndrome' is another asset to his already bountiful reputation. I think his distinctly British style is an important part of the Mortal Engines feel, and adds an unusual, subtle optimism to the story. This is extremely beneficial to the overall scheme, as most of the subject matter in Fever Crumb is dark, and needs a little extra cheer!
Fever Crumb In the days of the traction era, London is a bustling hub of activity. Exciting, electric and hectic. Hundreds of years before, however, it is nothing more than a motley static suburb just overcoming some recent hierarchial difficulties.
Do think it was even worth Philip Reeves' while to recreate the world of Mortal Engines? Do you even like it? Shout your opinion here.
Predator's GoldTom is a bit of an odd character to choose as the main character of a dark, epic saga. Thoughtful, careful and a bit shy, Tom is not the greatest candidate for a legendary hero.
All the same, he is the one who brings London to its' knees, and who wins Hesters' dogmatic loyalty. But do you really think he deserves it?
Personally, I think that it is the small, meek ones that are often given power in a story. Tom is a good example, and I think a good hero.
