34860 On Fridays on www.unputdownables.net we discuss the week's reading of this book... feel free to join there or to make comments here.

Below is the reading schedule, for more information see http://unputdownables.net/2011/06/23/...

Beginning Friday, July 1st and ending Friday, July 29th

READING SCHEDULE:

Week #/ dates :: Pages to Read

Week One/ July 1-7 :: pages 1- 53
Week Two/ July 8-14 :: pages 54- 107
Week Three/ July 15-21 :: pages 108- 161
Week Four/ July 22-29 :: pages 162- 209

This means that you should be reading (roughly) 7- 8 pages per day. The last week gives you a little bit of wiggle room (because of less pages to read) in case you have some catching up to do.

POSTING SCHEDULE:

Post #/ date post should be up on blog:

Week One Review/ July 8
Week Two Review/ July 15
Week Three Review/ July 22
Final Review/ July 29

34860 I agree... it felt more like a historical fiction novel than a non-fiction work. I really thought it was well done and informative (and entertaining!).

34860 In case you don't read the blog, I just wanted to post an update: I'm now offering an Early Readers Group! The first book offered is The Gin & Chowder Club!

Go here to submit your name (5 US residents will be chosen to participate with this title): http://wp.me/pYPJS-LD

34860 It's easy to get behind. There's a lot of information! It's a very interesting book though; glad you're still plugging away -- it's worth it!
May 24, 2011 09:05PM

34860 My friend Andy is getting into it. I told him how highly Carin recommended the book series. Are you watching the show, Zoe?

34860 Zoe wrote: "Phillippa Gregory is a fun author! She writes really juicy HF! :)"

I'm flying through it. Which of her others do you recommend?
May 23, 2011 02:19PM

34860 Am I the only one who hasn't read any Phillipa Gregory? I am devouring The White Queen on audio right now.

34860 Is anyone going to watch this new HBO movie about Andrew Ross Sorkin's book, Too Big to Fail: The Inside Story of How Wall Street and Washington Fought to Save the Financial System from Crisis—and Themselves? I haven't read the actual book, but think the movie looks very interesting!
May 23, 2011 02:15PM

34860 I can't believe we are almost done with this book! It is SO interesting, but it will be nice to read some (much) shorter fiction in July. :)
May 11, 2011 03:19PM

34860 The farther I get along in the book, the more I want to see how they portray it in the movie! I'm really looking forward to watching it.

The book is packed with wonderful information. Are you liking it so far?

***don’t forget to come to this blog and post the link to your weekly review in the comments section of my weekly Villette review (see below for more information)

How it Works:
Each week, on Friday, post your thoughts about the previous week’s reading. If you are stuck on what to post about, you can use these discussion questions to get you started. (You do not need to post a starting post, but if you would like to — just post something to let your readers know that every Friday you will be posting about your JA reading for the week.)
Each week, come here, to Unputdownables, and put the link to your post in the comments section (and take a minute to visit others’ blogs to see what they’ve thought of the reading). If you do not have a blog, post your thoughts on the reading directly in the comments section. *please refrain from posting ahead, even if you have read ahead, as to not spoil the book for others*
Feel free to use the read-a-long button from above in your posts or sidebars.

34860 Glad you liked it LemonLinda!

I also loved Mrs. Ali. I had almost hoped it wouldn't go to the places where it went at the end (it felt a tad contrived), but I loved the book anyway.

The pace of the book and the setting/character descriptions were so lovely.
Apr 19, 2011 02:11PM

34860 I can discuss it. I read it last summer, so I might be fuzzy, but I loved it.

Did you like it?

34860 Hi Unputdownables Book Club Members!

A few months ago, I initiated a read-a-long segment of my blog. I didn't realize it would go over so well (thought maybe only two or three of us would be reading) but it has turned out wonderful! Right now we are on our second book, John Adams after having already finished Villette.

Because these conversations are going so well (we break down the reading and check in once a week) I'd like to carry them over to this group. Instead of having a poll each month, I'd like to make the read-a-long book the official group book. If you would like to join in on the discussion each week you can check in at my blog. Or, if you want to carry on a conversation during the week, in between check-ins, you can do it here in a discussion forum.

Please note, this does not mean that you can't read other books together... Please do! Open a forum for discussing any book you choose! Just know that the official book will be per the read-a-long because I am better able to keep a good discussion going that way.

Of course, if this does not work out, or is highly disagreeable to you all, we can figure something else out. I hope you'll join in the read-a-longs, they've been a lot of fun! To see the schedule for upcoming books, go here: http://unputdownables.net/read-a-longs/

34860 Oh good -- I can't wait to hear what you think of it. Can you believe that I was at Barnes and Noble yesterday (to pick up a different book) and they didn't even have Bossypants out?! I was reeeeaalllly surprised.
