Dennis, maybe you would like The Marriage Plot. I'm just about halfway through it--at first, it reminded me a bit of Jonathan Franzen (all smarty-pants and endless angst), but it's growing on me.
Promise to start Cat's Cradle asap. My youngest daughter was also appalled that I'd not read Vonnegut...

Well, then that's where I will start (as soon as I finish the new Jeffrey Eugenides, which you would find utterly pretentious).

Aw, darn, love Northstar Cafe. Am working again on Wed. nights, so cannot be present. Might have nudged me to read my first Vonnegut.
