Behind The Book’s comments from the Behind the Book group.

Behind the Book is in the process of compiling a memo regarding our use of young-adult literature featuring tough, taboo themes such as sex, drugs and violence in classrooms, and why we stand by it.

What are your thoughts? Why is it beneficial, even necessary, to expose young readers to such themes in a critical context, and what pitfalls and complications must be addressed along the way?
