353 Cool! I haven't read Roverandom so I will definitely read that, and I'll reread Sigurd and Gudrun if I have time.
353 I agree that the books and the movies each stand on their own. I really love the movies. HOWEVER, I love the books more. xD I'm most of the way through The Two Towers, and I think exclaiming, "Oh that's right, that's how it happens in the book and I LOVE IT!" I haven't read these for a couple years, I think, and I've forgotten more than I thought.

*SPOILERS for Two Towers*

ANYWAY, I'm in the Ithilien chapters, which have always been favorites of mine. Sam, as bumbling as he is, is so endearing and loyal and asdfghjkl; he is great. Faramir is probably my favorite "Man" character in the books. We really see how weary Frodo is at this point, too, from his interactions with Faramir. He just doesn't have the energy to deal with someone who is trying to stop him with arguments. He's going to go on, and really doesn't want to talk about the whys and hows again. Poor guy; as he says, if he had a clear path, he would "go on until my legs gave way."

The Two Towers
The Return of the King
The Hobbit

Letters from Father Christmas
Unfinished Tales

This year I'm hoping to finish HoME, as well as read Roverandom, Mr. Bliss, and Tolkien's letters. :D

353 Mine is Riniel, which means "crown." My actual name means "crowned one" but close enough, I guess.
353 *SPOILER WARNING MAYBE FOR TWO TOWERS????*

I just finished the "Treebeard" chapter in TTT. I haven't read these books in a while and I forgot how AWESOME the Ents are. I enjoy the movies but the movie!Ents are like horrible caricatures of these amazing creatures. I noticed especially how kind Treebeard (and Quickbeam) are to the hobbits, and how Treebeard is already determined to do something about Saruman (how hasty!) but he has to go through proper channels first. The Ents' song on the way to Isengard always gives me chills!
353 I finished rereading FotR: I love it so much. I really love having the whole Fellowship together, but looking forward to Two Towers!

Having recently reread The Hobbit, I was noticing the connections between the two and references to Bilbo's journey a lot more this time around. eg Legolas and Gimli, finding out what happened to some of the dwarves (in Moria), the mithril coat, etc etc...Really cool!

353 I also loved it. I've read the basic story many times in HoME, but having the full version all together was amazing. All the scenes with Beleg always make me cry.

Wow and who else totally adored Alan Lee's art???
