353 I'm half way through and like how this book talks about Tolkien's start in Middle Earth, especially the Norse influence. Also the story of Kullervo is mentioned a lot, and I love the irony since it was recently published.

Thanks for the website Longhare,I'll have to check it out! What was everyone's thoughts on Tolkein's translation of Beowulf? I thought it was easier to read than the old english version, I read that version of Beowulf in college. I also thought he did a good job as it was pretty close to original, but some parts kinda drug out, like the historical bit when Beowulf was first feasting at Heorot.

353 Just finished reading the poem and on the commentary. I'm a little disappointed in it as I thought it would talk more about the context of Beowulf instead of defining the words.

So Aragorn could have been promisicious?
353 This is an interesting question with interesting responses. I know the fanfiction I've read paints it otherwise, but I never gave it thought until now, though I thought Tolkien might have mentioned it between the conversation Frodo and Gandalf had at the end of The Steward and the King. Sorry I can't quote it now.

353 I really liked her, she was a good strong female character and the romance between her and Kili was adorable.
353 A Hobbit Journey, and the Philosophy of the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. They offered new perspectives about Tolkein's middle earth.

353 Hi, I'm Ashley and I've been a Tolkein fan for about ten years. I love both the movies and the books (including the hobbit!). I think they are just wonderful and it never gets old. I think I pretty much read all of his works (except some of the HOME series) and I've been reading some books that analyze his works. I just got finished with the Lord of the Rings and Philosophy and the Hobbit and Philosophy, which compares his work to philiosophers, along with a Hobbit Journey. The Fall of Arthur was really good too.
