Oh Anne! If only you had stayed away from the King! But all that need for power went straight to your head!I get what she wanted to do. She was fighting for women to have more rights and I do applaud her for that but because of it she will loose her head 😞. She never loved the King. She just needed a crown. And a lot of it was revenge against Wesley too and it took so long to get her revenge that she was in too deep and couldn’t get away from the King. She loved another.
Her father and uncle were complete assholes but no surprise there. Men + 1500s = assholes (most of the time)
Part of me wants to feel sorry for Anne because she was a women stuck in the 1500s but I also want to say you should have stood your ground with the NOs and maybe you’d still be alive. But...then we wouldn’t have had the amazing (even if she did kill my Queen 😢) Queen Elizabeth I!
Wow! I thought I knew about Anne until I start this book. Now I know some of this is fiction but I also know Alison tries to stay as close to the real story as possible. From what I have read and seen about Anne, I can honestly say I think this is how Anne would have been. How her attitude is after going to the Netherlands goes hand in hand on how she is when she starts see King Henry VIII.
I feel like she would have never married the King had it not been for her father and uncle. She changed a lot after loosing her true love, Harry. After that I believe everything she did (even if it was forced) was for revenge for what happened to her and even to her sister Mary. They might not have been the closest of sisters but Anne did NOT like that fact that her sister was rapped by two Kings. Even if she did eventually enjoy King Henry VIII’s company
Man I can’t wait to keep reading. I know eventually the story will start to become very familiar, since we have read Katherine of Aragon, but it will be interesting to see it from Anne’s point of view.
Speaking of Katherine, it’s interesting to see her and Anne’s relationship in the beginning of the story knowing how it ended. I wonder how much she really hated Katherine at the time Henry was trying to divorce her and how much of that was just a show for everyone. Because she seemed to really like her at the start.
Ahhhh omg! This last part was so heartbreaking. I did feel like it dragged a little in some parts and I found myself pushing through but it was still an amazing part. All that shit Katherine had to deal with and not even getting to be with Mary when she died. Gahhh makes me wanna punch Henry and Anne. I’m so glad I know that Anne doesn’t last much longer anyway 🤣🤣🤣 karma is a bitch for sure
Ugh this was horrible 🤦🏻♀️ poor Katherine. All the crap she gets put through. She’s a devoted wife and she keeps loosing her babies and Henry while seeming like a loving husband I know he changes later on. I honestly think he loved her truly and some assholes got into his head....like Wolsey 🙄. I hate the way women get treated back then. They are pretty much just a walking birthing tank. I mean Vikings treated their women better and even they had more rights. I’m glad things have changed since time (although we still have a long ways to go...at least in the United States)
Omg I was all over the place with this part! At first I was like oh yay everyone loves Katherine and Queen Elizabeth just loves her. And then I was like wait wait wait is this all a ploy?!? Then she died and I was sad. I think she honestly loved Katherine like a daughter. Ugh by King Henry. What an asshole. I see where Henry VIII got it from. While I know he loves Katherine right now they way he messed with her afterwards just because she can’t pop out a boy (I’m referring to what I know from The Tudors show) I can’t help but still be so mad at him and roll my eyes a LOT 🙄. I use to hate Katherine while watching Tudors but now I don’t. They got it all wrong and if she is bitter towards the end she deserves to be with the hell they have put her through so far! I love Alison’s writing. I feel like I’m right here with Katherine yet I don’t feel lost because of the language. I was worried I wouldn’t like it. Most time period books they stick to some of the same language but she made it modern while still being in the past. If that makes any sense at all.
