I have written about my sailing through my two Wes Darling mysteries. My protagonist, Wes Darling, lives on a sailboat. The first book, Key Lime Blues is set in Key West. The second book, Dog River Blues is set on the Dog River in Mobile Alabama. I am working on the third book which is set in the Bahamas.

Believe me I've had my share of rejections. I had some interest from Poisoned Pen Press in the book, the editor read the first chapter, loved it and wanted to see the entire manuscript. When I when I found out what they paid I figured I might as well self-publish. On top of that, I control what I put out and when.

I agree, Richard. The trouble is that it seems to be harder and harder to find a good detective novel. The traditional publishers want big blockbuster novels. Hopefully E-books will fill in the void.

The Storm Killer, a historical thriller, is my first novel.

I write full-time and currently live on a sailboat in Ft. Lauderdale Florida. My wife and I sailed the boat down the inland waterway system from Minnesota in 2003. Next year we are taking the boat on a 2-3 year trip through the caribbean.

Since my next novel, Key Lime Blues, is basically a detective novel I'd love to have a discussion about whether the detective novel is dead.
