Thanks for the support. I am dropping in to say hi , and after another crazy year I actually now have a second book! Be Your Own Heroine - similar premise to Be More Jane, but covers a wide variety of heroines throughout literature :) Hope everyone is well during these strange times!
Hello hello hello! When I wished to step down as moderator of this group, but could find no one who wished to take over, it means I am still technically moderator.
For the first time in years I have logged back into goodreads and was amazed to still see some activity here!
I hope everyone is well. I, myself, have had a crazy few years in the Austen world, my blog (Laughing With Lizzie), leading me to all sorts of exciting opportunities, such a starring in a BBC documentary about jane Austen fans (My Friend Jane).
and last year I was contacted by a publisher to ask me if I could write a book for them, so I am now a published author! It came out a few weeks ago. It is so mad to think that I would ever have had such good luck when I started falling in love with Austen aged 16, and then starting sharing my passion with lots of lovely people on here. How the time flies too! I am now 23.
I hope you are all well and still ardent Jane Austen fans.
Best,
Sophie
Thank you all! I have missed you! Just say the word at who wants to be a mod and I will make it happen :) I have enjoyed it, but just haven't the time anymore!
Oh, I have added a giveaway to my post above now :) something special which money can't buy - just comment on my post to enter!
Hello! I am so sorry for my silence for the past months. Things have been crazy busy and I have had bad health as well! I am glad the NA group read went well :) enjoyed reading the comments! In other news, today I turned 20!!! *happy birthday to me!* Finally I am Lizzy Bennet - or the closest I am ever going to come to it! I can also say "I am not one and twenty"!!! To celebrate this Lizzy milestone (I am Laughing With Lizzie after all!) I did a little experiment. I have been told I look a bit like Jennifer Ehle a few times, so I thought I would search my photos and try and match them to pictures of Ehle or Knightley. It turned out to be quite spooky as I found a LOT of pretty good matches! To see my comparisons, have a look at my birthday blog post - I have also revealed some of what I will be getting up to this year! http://laughingwithlizzie.blogspot.co...
Last year was a big year for me, and i think this year will be either bigger! Therefore, I think i need to step down from my place as moderator of this group. I have done what I wanted to; a group read of all 6 as moderators!
So, which of my trusty friends will take over for me? There can be more than one moderator!
Thank you all! :)
Kathy does have a good head on her shoulders. :) Thorpe is bad, and yes he assumed that because the Allens were rich, she would benefit from it. Thorpe is just an idiot.
I have always thought it was because they accidentally spoke about the muslin etc that he then got the MC to introduce them so they could be allowed to talk and then dance. Haven't started yet to read, that might be just the adaptation on my mind!
Catherine makes her way back home in disgrace and is restless and depressed. But Henry comes in to the rescue, explain the misunderstanding and all is well!
Catherine learns more about the abbey, and wants to hear about their mother, which all ends badly as her imagination takes over.
Isabella is engaged to James, Catherine is invited to Northanger, and upon arriving, it isn't quite as scary as she hoped!
Tilney returns to Bath with his sister, and we meet General Tilney, a few walks with the Tilneys and ill-fated carriage rides with the Thorpes take place.
Meet the Morlands, the Allens take Catherine to Bath, they bump in Mr Tilney, literally, then come the Thorpes.
